A Fresh Start: Morning Prayer for Today
Begin your day by inviting Jesus into the hours ahead. This gentle morning prayer helps you offer your day to God, confess what weighs on you, give thanks for His faithfulness, and ask for His guidance in all you'll face.

Adoration
Start by simply noticing who Jesus is. You might think of a moment recently when you sensed His presence—a kindness, an answer, a quiet knowing. Let that draw your heart toward Him now. Tell Him what you love about Him. It could be His steadiness, His mercy, His presence even when you feel alone. As the psalmist says, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord" (Psalm 27:4, NIV). You don't need fancy words—just honest ones. Jesus delights when you turn your face toward His. Let your gratitude for who He is pour out, even if it's simple: "Thank you for being here. Thank you for loving me."
Confession
Now bring the weight you're carrying. It might be something you said or did yesterday, or something you're worried about doing today. It might be a way you're doubting His goodness, or a corner of your heart that feels cold. Jesus already knows it all, so there's no need to hide. He tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Bring it to Him gently. You might say, "I'm sorry for..." or "I'm struggling with..." or simply, "I need Your grace today." Don't rush this—let Him meet you here with forgiveness that feels real, not rushed.
Thanksgiving
Even in an ordinary morning, there is so much to be grateful for. Jesus teaches us that "every good and perfect gift is from above" (James 1:17, NIV). Look around. Your breath. The light coming in. Someone who loves you. A meal waiting. A chance to try again. Thank Jesus for things both large and small. You might pray, "I'm grateful for..." and let your mind wander through the gifts of your life. Thankfulness opens your heart wider than anything else can, and it reminds you that you're not walking into this day alone or empty-handed.
My Concerns
Finally, ask Jesus for what you need today. He invites us to bring our requests to Him: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV). Talk to Him about your day ahead. Do you need courage? Patience? Wisdom for a conversation? Healing for something that hurts? A sense of His presence during a hard task? Don't hold back. Ask Him to guide your steps, to give you eyes to see His work, to keep you close to His heart through whatever comes. End by inviting Him to walk with you: "Jesus, be with me today. Help me to notice You. Help me to follow You."
