Adoration
Begin by turning your attention to God's character and greatness. Consider how the Lord demonstrates His majesty through creation, through His Word, and through His unchanging nature. As the psalmist declares, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1). Take time to praise God for who He is—His holiness, His faithfulness, and His infinite wisdom. Whether you speak words aloud or whisper them quietly, express admiration for His sovereignty over all things. Remember that you are approaching the throne of a King who loves you deeply, and let that reality fill your heart with reverence and joy.
Confession
Move now into honest reflection before God, acknowledging areas where you have fallen short of His standards. Jesus reminds us that "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Bring to mind specific thoughts, words, or actions that have grieved the Holy Spirit, and name them before God without shame or hesitation. Confession is not about condemnation but about restoration; God desires to cleanse you and draw you closer to Him. As you confess, receive the assurance of His forgiveness, knowing that through Christ's sacrifice, your sins are completely pardoned and removed from you.
Thanksgiving
Cultivate gratitude by reflecting on God's faithfulness, mercy, and blessings in your life. Paul writes, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Consider both the major blessings—salvation, loved ones, provision—and the small mercies that often go unnoticed: a peaceful moment, a kind word, the beauty of a new day. Thank God for lessons learned through challenges, for His presence during difficult times, and for the hope you have in Him. Even in seasons of uncertainty, there is always something for which to praise Him. Let thanksgiving soften your heart and remind you of His goodness.
My Concerns
Finally, bring your requests and concerns before God with confidence and faith. Jesus teaches us, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7). Present your needs—whether spiritual growth, healing, wisdom for decisions, strength for today, or help for loved ones—trusting that God cares about every detail of your life. Pray not only for yourself but also for others: intercede for family, friends, community leaders, and those who are suffering. Align your desires with God's will, remembering that His purpose is always better than our own. Close your supplication by surrendering your petitions to His loving hands, confident that He hears and will answer according to His perfect plan.
