A Morning of Joy

Start your day by bringing your celebration to Jesus. This prayer guide helps you share your joy with him, thank him for the good things he's done, and ask him to sustain this gladness as you move through your day.

Morning Grateful for something
5–12 min

Good morning. You have something to celebrate, and what better way to begin your day than by sharing that joy with Jesus? Come, bring your happiness to him.

Adoration

Before anything else, take a moment to notice the One who made this morning possible. Jesus is here with you—he's the source of every good gift, the one who delights in your delight. You might pray something like: "Jesus, I come to you this morning full of joy. You are worthy of all my praise, not because of what you've given me, but because of who you are. You are faithful, generous, and kind." As the psalmist writes, "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth" (Psalm 100:1, ESV). Let your celebration become worship. Tell him what you see in his character—his steadiness, his love, the way he works in your life. There's no need for perfect words; just let your heart spill over with gratitude for who he is.

Confession

Celebration can sometimes cloud our sight. Take a gentle moment to ask Jesus: "Have I thanked you alone, or have I let this joy make me forgetful of you? Have I celebrated in ways that don't reflect your heart?" You don't need to dig for guilt—this isn't about dampening your joy. Rather, as Paul reminds us, "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV). But rejoicing in the Lord means keeping him at the center. If there's anything that's crept into your celebration that doesn't belong—pride, forgetfulness of his role, or celebrating in a way that harms others—name it simply and let it go. Jesus meets you in honesty, not heaviness.

Thanksgiving

Now, linger here. This is the heart of your morning prayer. Thank Jesus specifically for what you're celebrating. If it's a success, a relationship, an answer to prayer, a breakthrough—name it out loud. "Thank you, Jesus, for..." and let the words pour out. The writer of Hebrews invites us to "offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving" (Hebrews 13:15, ESV). Your gratitude is an offering. Don't rush through this—savor it. Thank him for the small things too: the way this morning feels, the people around you, his presence even in ordinary moments. Thank him for being the kind of God who celebrates with his children, who doesn't begrudge your joy but amplifies it.

My Concerns

As you close, bring one simple request to Jesus: that this joy would last, not because happiness never fades, but because your trust in him remains steady. You might pray, "Jesus, help me carry this gladness with wisdom. Help me remember you today in every moment—when the celebration fades and when it shines bright. Keep my heart close to yours." Ask him to use this season of joy to strengthen your faith, to make you more generous, to overflow into the lives of those around you. As you move into your day, ask him to walk with you: "Guide me, Lord. Help me honor this gift you've given by living in a way that reflects your goodness." End by trusting that whatever comes, he remains with you.
