A Morning of Joy: Celebrating God's Goodness
Start your day by bringing your joy before Jesus. This prayer guide invites you to share what you're celebrating with him, to offer your gratitude for his faithfulness, and to ask him to sustain this joy throughout your day.

Adoration
Begin by looking at who Jesus is in the midst of your joy. He is the source of every good gift, the one who delights in seeing his children flourish. Take a moment to simply tell him what you see in him right now—his generosity, his faithfulness, his joy. You might notice how he has woven celebration into his creation itself: the sunrise you're greeting this morning, the rhythms of seasons, the human capacity to feel delight. As the Psalmist writes, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name" (Psalm 100:4, ESV). There's no need for fancy words here—just honest wonder. What draws your heart toward Jesus as you begin this day of celebration?
Confession
Now, pause and make room for honesty. Sometimes when we're celebrating, we can forget who made the celebration possible. We might hold our joy a little too tightly, or feel anxious that it won't last. We might compare our celebration to someone else's, or find ourselves proud in ways that pull us away from Jesus. There's no judgment here—only an invitation to lay it down. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). What do you need to release to Jesus this morning? What small thing—or bigger thing—would free you to celebrate with a clear heart?
Thanksgiving
This is where your joy becomes a prayer. Thank Jesus for the specific thing you're celebrating. Name it. Don't rush past it—linger here. Thank him for the people involved, for the way he orchestrated events, for how he's shown up. Thank him for the smaller things too: the breath in your lungs, the ability to feel happiness, the grace that made this moment possible. The Psalmist invites us: "I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds" (Psalm 9:1, ESV). Let gratitude overflow from you this morning. What does your heart most want to thank him for right now?
My Concerns
Finally, ask Jesus to do something with this celebration. Ask him to deepen your joy so it's rooted not just in circumstance but in him. Ask him to help you carry this gladness into the hours ahead—into conversations, into work, into moments when the day feels heavy. Ask him to show you how to share this joy with others, and to protect your heart from letting celebration become self-centeredness. "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV)—and as you rejoice, ask him what he wants to do next. How might he want to use this joy in your day?
