A Morning Prayer Before Meetings

Begin your day by bringing your meetings—the conversations, decisions, and people involved—into the presence of Jesus. This guide helps you move from anxiety or distraction into clarity and calm before your day unfolds.

Morning Meetings
5–12 min

Take a few moments right now, before the day pulls you in different directions. Jesus is here with you, and He cares about what's ahead.

Adoration

Start by remembering who you're praying to. Jesus is not distant from your meetings—He is present in every conversation, every decision, every interaction. You might begin by simply acknowledging His nearness. "You are not far from each one of us" (Acts 17:27, ESV). Take a moment to tell Him what draws you to His character this morning. Is it His wisdom? His calm? His ability to work through the ordinary moments of your day? You might pray something like: "Jesus, I see Your intelligence in how You navigate every situation. I see Your peace, even in complexity. I'm grateful that You're not bothered by meetings or decisions." Let that settle in you for a moment—that the God you're praying to has never been anxious about a conversation, never been caught off guard by a difficult person, never made a wrong call.

Confession

Now bring the weight you're carrying into the light. You might be honest about fear—fear of saying the wrong thing, of being misunderstood, of not being enough. You might confess that you're trying to control outcomes instead of trusting. Or perhaps you're walking into a meeting with irritation toward someone, and you know it. Jesus invites you to lay it down here. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Take a moment and name what's true: the anxiety, the frustration, the desire to manage things your own way. You don't have to pretend it's not there. Just tell Him. And notice—there's no shame in bringing these things to Jesus. He already knows. He's waiting for you to be honest so He can meet you with grace.

Thanksgiving

Before you even walk into your meetings, there's already something to be grateful for. Thank Jesus for the people you'll encounter—even the difficult ones. Thank Him for the chance to listen, to contribute, to see how He moves through human conversation. You might pray: "Thank you that I don't face this day alone. Thank you for wisdom I don't have to earn—it's available to me when I ask." As Paul writes, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). Notice how gratitude shifts something in you—it reminds you that you're not dependent on your own performance. It reminds you that God is already at work. Take a moment to name one thing you're genuinely grateful for as you enter this day.

My Concerns

Now bring your specific needs to Jesus. Ask Him for what you actually need—not what you think you should need, but what's real. Do you need clarity in a conversation? Ask for it. Do you need patience with someone? Say so. Do you need to hear something important from a colleague, or to say something you've been holding back? Bring it to Him. Jesus tells us, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). You might pray: "Give me words that are true and kind. Help me listen more than I speak. Calm my mind so I can think clearly. Help me remember that You're in this room with me." Be specific. Jesus is not bothered by detail. He wants to know what you need. Finish by asking Him to align your heart with His—not to make the meetings go your way, but to help you see what He's doing and move with Him through the day ahead.
