Adoration
Begin by lifting your eyes to the God who orchestrates all things and speaks with perfect authority. Praise Him as the source of all wisdom and understanding. As it is written, 'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding' (Proverbs 9:10). Recognize His sovereignty over every conversation, decision, and outcome that will unfold. Thank Him that He is not distant from the details of your work and relationships, but intimately present and caring about every exchange. Declare with the psalmist that 'in all my ways I submit to you, and you make my paths straight' (Proverbs 3:6), trusting that He guides even the smallest moments of our professional lives.
Confession
Humbly acknowledge before the Lord any anxiety, pride, or lack of trust you may be carrying into this meeting. Confess any tendency to rely on your own understanding rather than seeking His guidance, or moments when you've allowed frustration or impatience to cloud your words and actions. As Scripture reminds us, 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:9). Release any resentment toward those you'll be meeting with, asking God to soften your heart toward others as He has softened His heart toward you. Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal any hidden motives or attitudes that need His healing touch.
Thanksgiving
Express gratitude for the opportunity to serve, contribute, and engage with others, recognizing that meaningful work is a gift from God. Thank Him for the people in your meetings—their gifts, perspectives, and the chance to grow through interaction with them. Give thanks that 'the Lord is my light and my salvation' (Psalm 27:1) and that He promises to be with you always. Appreciate His grace that covers your imperfections and mistakes, and celebrate past meetings where His hand was evident in bringing clarity, unity, or breakthrough. Remember with gratitude that 'every good and perfect gift is from above' (James 1:17), including the ability to think clearly, communicate effectively, and collaborate well.
My Concerns
Ask God to grant you clarity of thought and calm confidence as you prepare for or engage in your meeting. Request that He give you the right words to speak at the right time, and equally important, wisdom to listen well and understand others. Pray specifically that 'the Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life' (Job 33:4) and ask Him to guide your spirit toward patience, humility, and genuine care for those around the table. Intercede for any difficult conversations or decisions that may arise, asking God to direct outcomes toward justice, unity, and His purposes. Finally, petition Him to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, so that whatever the meeting's result, your peace remains anchored in Him.
