A Quiet Word Before the Day of Meetings
A prayer guide for early morning, as you prepare your heart before a day filled with meetings. This guide helps you invite Jesus into the spaces where you'll listen, speak, and decide—seeking His presence and wisdom for each conversation ahead.

Adoration
Start by turning your attention to who Jesus is in the midst of your busyness. He is not distant from the details of your day; He is close. The psalmist writes, "You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me" (Psalm 139:5, ESV)—even in crowded rooms and packed schedules, His presence surrounds you. Take a moment to thank Him for His attentiveness. You might pray something like: "Jesus, You are present in every moment. You see every conversation I'll have today. You care about the people I'll meet with and the decisions we'll make together." Let yourself sit with the reality that the God who holds all things together is already in every meeting you'll attend. What aspects of His character bring you comfort as you think about your day?
Confession
Now bring your honest self to Jesus. Meetings can stir up a lot—maybe you feel unprepared, or worried about how others perceive you. Maybe you're carrying tension from a past conversation, or you're anxious about speaking up. As Jesus told His disciples, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). That invitation is for you right now. You don't have to walk into your day pretending everything is settled. Talk to Jesus about the worry, the self-doubt, or the anger that might be sitting in your chest. You might say: "I'm carrying fear about today. I'm not sure I'll say the right things. I'm worried about being dismissed." Or whatever is true for you. He already knows it anyway—He's asking you to lay it down with Him, not to carry it alone.
Thanksgiving
Before you move into asking, pause to notice what's already good. Maybe it's people you trust in these meetings, or a clear goal you're working toward, or simply that you've made it through other difficult meetings before. Scripture reminds us, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV). Gratitude is not about pretending the hard parts don't exist—it's about noticing what God has already done. You might offer thanks like: "Jesus, I'm grateful for my colleagues. I'm thankful that I'm not facing this alone. I'm grateful that You've helped me navigate difficult conversations before." What can you genuinely thank Him for as you prepare?
My Concerns
Now bring your specific needs to Jesus. Ask Him for what you need most in these meetings—clarity, courage, the right words at the right time, or simply a calm presence. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, ESV). You might pray: "Help me listen well before I speak. Give me courage to say what needs to be said. Help me see the people in these meetings the way You see them. Calm my mind. Guide the conversations." Be specific about the meetings or conversations that weigh on you most. Jesus is not too busy for the details of your day—He invites you to bring them all.
