Adoration
Start by simply telling Jesus what you admire about Him—especially as you've seen Him work or provide today. You might notice how He showed up in the details of this celebration. Maybe it was through people He brought together, or a moment of unexpected blessing, or the simple gift of laughter shared with someone you love. As you think about these things, whisper to Him: "Lord, You are generous. You are the giver of every good gift." The psalmist knew this truth: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father" (James 1:17, ESV). Take a moment to name one thing about Jesus that this celebration has reminded you of—His faithfulness, His kindness, His sense of humor, His timing. Let that admiration settle in your heart.
Confession
Now gently ask yourself: as I've celebrated today, have I paused to remember that it all comes from Him? Sometimes joy can rush past us so quickly that we forget to look up. That's not failure—it's just being human. If there's a place where you've held onto the credit, or forgotten to include Him in your happiness, bring that to Him now without shame. Jesus invites you with these words: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV)—and that includes the times we've gotten tangled up even in good things. Simply say what's true: "Jesus, I want to celebrate *with* You, not separate from You." He's waiting to hear that, and He won't turn away.
Thanksgiving
This is where your heart gets to overflow. Thank Jesus for the specific gifts of today—the people who were there, the moments that made you smile, the answered prayers, the simple pleasures. Don't rush this part. Name them one by one, as though you're listing treasures. "Thank You for..." and then pause and really feel it. As you do, remember that Paul wrote even from prison: "Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV). Your gratitude isn't dependent on perfect circumstances—it's a response to a God who is always good. So thank Him for the joy itself, for the people who shared it, for His presence even in the celebrating. Let your thanks be real and warm, like you're talking to a friend who just gave you something beautiful.
My Concerns
End by asking Jesus for one thing: that this joy would stay rooted in Him as the days unfold. You might pray, "Help me remember tonight. Help me carry this sense of Your goodness into tomorrow." Ask Him to deepen your trust, to help you see that He's the source—not just of tonight, but of every good thing ahead. Or if there's someone else you want to invite into His joy, bring them to Him now. "By the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God" (Romans 12:1, ESV)—and that includes offering Him your happiness, asking Him to make it count for something bigger than just tonight. End by simply asking Him to stay close.
