An Evening Prayer When Life Feels Hard
A gentle guide to bring your weariness and heaviness to Jesus at day's end. This prayer invites you to name what's difficult, receive grace for it, and rest in God's presence.

Adoration
Begin by simply noticing who Jesus is in the midst of your difficulty. You don't have to feel better first — just turn toward Him. He is here. As you sit with that, you might acknowledge His steadiness: "Jesus, You are the one who never sleeps, who watches over those who are weary." Let yourself rest in the truth that nothing surprises Him, and no hardship is too tangled for Him to see clearly. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). He said that. He means it for you tonight. Take a moment to let that sink in — not as something you need to earn or become worthy of, but as a simple invitation from someone who knows exactly how you feel.
Confession
Now, without shame, bring the reactions this difficulty has stirred in you. Maybe you've grown bitter, or hopeless, or angry with God. Maybe you've retreated from people who care about you. Maybe you've relied on something other than Jesus to numb the pain. The good news is that Jesus doesn't flinch from your honest words. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Talk to Him about where you've stumbled. Don't soften it or make it prettier than it is. He already knows — and He's waiting to forgive you. There's no judgment in this room, only a love that holds you still.
Thanksgiving
Even in difficulty, there are threads of grace to notice. Perhaps it's a person who stayed with you. Maybe it's simply that you woke up this morning. Perhaps it's that you're reaching out to Jesus at all, that something in you still trusts He's worth talking to. "Rejoice always... in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV). You're not giving thanks for the hardship itself — you're noticing the small, steady mercies that have held you through it. Speak those aloud. Name them. Let gratitude soften the edges of your weariness, even just a little.
My Concerns
Finally, ask Jesus for what you need. Be specific. Do you need strength for tomorrow? Do you need to see one small way forward? Do you need to feel less alone? Do you need healing, or comfort, or clarity? Jesus invites you to ask: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). Bring your request to Him without editing it. If you're not sure what to ask for, that's okay — you might simply say, "Jesus, I'm asking You to hold me through this." Let your prayer end there. He hears. He's listening. And He will answer, though the answer may come in a way you don't yet expect.
