Before the Meetings: A Morning Prayer

Adoration
Start by noticing who Jesus is — not as a problem-solver for your schedule, but as the One who holds all things together. You might pray something like: "Jesus, You are patient and present. You never rush, never miss a detail, never lose sight of what's true." Let that truth settle in. As Paul reminds us, "in him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:17, ESV). The meetings ahead are not outside His care or knowledge. He moves through boardrooms and conversations just as He moved through crowds in first-century Galilee. Take a moment to acknowledge His steadiness. What aspect of His character do you most need to remember as you walk into these meetings?
Confession
Before you step into rooms with other people, invite Jesus to show you what's in your own heart. Are you carrying anxiety about being heard? A need to control the outcome? Fear of being found inadequate? Don't rush past this — these are real, and Jesus already knows them. As He says in Matthew, "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34, ESV). So pause and ask: What am I hoping these meetings will prove about me? Where am I trusting in my own words instead of His wisdom? You don't need to perform a perfect confession — just be honest. Tell Jesus what you're aware of, and let His kindness, not your shame, be what moves in that space.
Thanksgiving
Even before the meetings happen, there is so much to be grateful for. Thank Jesus for the people you'll encounter — their perspectives, their struggles, their humanity. Thank Him for giving you a voice and a mind. Thank Him that He doesn't require your meetings to go perfectly in order to love you or move His purposes forward. As Philippians 4:6 reminds us, we are invited to approach everything "with thanksgiving" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). You might say: "Jesus, thank You that I don't carry this day alone. Thank You for wisdom available to me. Thank You that my worth isn't determined by how these conversations land." Pause and name one specific thing or person you're grateful for as you head into your meetings.
My Concerns
Now bring your specific needs to Jesus. Ask for clarity in communication — the ability to listen well and speak truth gently. Ask for wisdom about when to speak and when to hold space for others. If you're nervous about a particular conversation, name it. If you need courage or patience, ask for it directly. Jesus invites us to ask: "Ask and it will be given to you" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). You might pray: "Help me to lead with kindness before I lead with competence. Quiet my need to prove myself. Give me ears to hear what matters. Guide my words." Bring the specific meetings, people, or decisions to Him. He is not distant from the details of your day.
