Evening Reflection on Meetings - An ACTS Prayer Guide

A structured prayer guide for reflecting on the day's meetings and entrusting tomorrow's interactions to God's wisdom and grace.

Evening Meetings
5–12 min

Welcome to this evening time of prayer. As you settle in, bring your day's meetings before the Lord with an open and honest heart.

Adoration

Begin by recognizing God's sovereign presence in all our conversations and gatherings. As we reflect on today's meetings, let us lift our hearts in praise for the God who is present in every room we enter. The psalmist reminds us, 'The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all' (Psalm 103:19). Even in our boardrooms, conference calls, and discussions, the Creator of all wisdom is near. Take a moment to honor God for His attentiveness to our work, our words, and our relationships. Praise Him for being a God who listens and understands the complexities of our professional lives better than we ever could.

Confession

Now, with honest hearts, let us confess where we may have fallen short in our interactions today. Did we speak hastily without seeking God's guidance first? Were there moments when we prioritized our agenda over listening to others with genuine care? As James writes, 'Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry' (James 1:19). Confess any pride that may have influenced your words, any impatience with colleagues, or times when you failed to demonstrate Christ's love in your professional relationships. Ask God to forgive you for any words spoken in frustration or any decisions made without seeking His wisdom. Bring these moments to Him without shame, knowing that His mercy is new every morning.

Thanksgiving

Express gratitude for the specific blessings woven through today's meetings and interactions. Thank God for colleagues who contributed wisdom, for conversations that moved projects forward, and for the opportunity to engage in meaningful work. As Paul encourages, 'Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus' (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Give thanks even for challenging meetings, as they refine our character and teach us patience. Appreciate the skills and abilities God has given you to communicate effectively, the platforms from which you can influence others, and the trust others place in you. Acknowledge any unexpected blessings—a kind word from a colleague, a problem solved, or simply making it through a difficult day.

My Concerns

Lift up your requests for wisdom, grace, and favor as you face tomorrow's meetings and ongoing professional challenges. Pray that God would give you discernment to know when to speak and when to listen, asking Him for 'wisdom that comes from heaven' (James 3:17). Request strength to handle difficult personalities or tense conversations with patience and humility. Intercede for your colleagues—their struggles, their families, and their own spiritual journeys. Ask God to guide your words so they might edify others and point them toward truth. Finally, entrust tomorrow's schedule to God's hands, asking Him to order your steps and open doors of opportunity where He sees fit. Pray for protection from compromising your values in pursuit of professional gain, and for courage to stand firm in your convictions.
