Adoration
Begin by turning your focus to the character of God who is greater than any anxiety you face. Praise Him as your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. As the psalmist declares, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1). Speak aloud the names of God that bring you comfort—the Wonderful Counselor, the God of Peace, your Faithful Father. Let your heart rest in the truth that He is in control, that His love never fails, and that His mercies are new every morning. Allow the reality of His majesty and goodness to begin quieting the anxious thoughts that trouble you.
Confession
Gently acknowledge before God where anxiety may have led you astray. Confess any moments when you have leaned on your own understanding rather than trusting His wisdom, or when fear has caused you to forget His faithfulness. As Paul writes, "Do not be anxious about anything" (Philippians 4:6), recognizing that anxiety sometimes reflects a lack of faith in God's promises. Ask forgiveness for the times you've allowed worry to steal your joy and peace. Thank Him that in confession, there is freedom, and that He does not condemn those who come to Him with honest hearts.
Thanksgiving
Thank God for His constant presence and for never abandoning you, even in seasons of anxiety. Express gratitude for the Holy Spirit who intercedes for you with groans too deep for words (Romans 8:26), for His Word that sustains you, and for the peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank Him for the specific ways He has shown up in your life—moments of provision, comfort, or unexpected calm. Acknowledge His love demonstrated through Christ, who Himself experienced deep distress yet trusted completely in the Father. Let your heart overflow with appreciation for His patience with you and His promise that you can cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
My Concerns
Now bring your specific anxieties before God with honesty and vulnerability. Name the worries that trouble you and ask Him to replace them with His peace. Pray as Jesus taught: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself" (Matthew 6:34), asking God to help you release what you cannot control and trust Him with the unknowns. Request wisdom to discern what requires your action and what requires your surrender. Ask Him to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), to renew your strength, and to give you a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Conclude by asking Him to help you rest in the truth that you are held secure in His sovereign hands.
