Midday Meetings: Finding Peace in the Pause

A brief prayer guide to center yourself during the busyness of back-to-back meetings. Whether you're heading into a difficult conversation, feeling overwhelmed by your schedule, or simply need to reconnect with Jesus in the middle of your day, this guide helps you find clarity and calm.

Midday Before a big moment
5–10 min

Take a moment here, right in the middle of your day. Jesus is with you in this busy season, and these next few minutes are for you to pause and breathe with him.

Adoration

Start by noticing who Jesus is in the midst of your meetings and tasks. He's not distant from your calendar or your conference calls—he's present in every moment. You might whisper to him: "Jesus, you are my refuge and my strength" (Psalm 46:1, ESV). Let that truth settle into you. He doesn't just know about your day; he walks through it with you. Take a moment to acknowledge his steadiness. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us: "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Even now, in the middle of everything, that invitation stands. Thank him for being someone you can turn to, not after work is done, but right here, right now.

Confession

Your meetings might have stirred up things in you—maybe you said something you regret, or felt impatient, or let anxiety take the wheel instead of trust. Jesus doesn't need you to clean yourself up before you come to him. He meets you exactly as you are in this moment. Is there something from this morning or earlier today that weighs on you? Bring it honestly. You might say to him: "I'm not handling this the way I want to. I'm anxious. I spoke too quickly. I wasn't fully present." As 1 John 1:9 reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." You don't have to carry shame into your next meeting. Let it go here.

Thanksgiving

Even in a busy day, there is something to be grateful for. Maybe it's the colleague who made you laugh, or a conversation that went better than you expected. Maybe it's simply that you've made it this far, or that you have work that matters to you. Look for the small mercies. "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV). You might thank him for wisdom you felt you had in a moment, for patience that showed up when you needed it, or even for the challenge itself—the chance to grow. Thank him for his faithfulness that doesn't pause when your day gets full.

My Concerns

Now bring your real needs to Jesus. What do you need for the rest of your day? Clarity for your next meeting? Patience with a difficult person? Energy to keep going? Courage to speak up about something important? Don't soften your ask or worry that it's too small. Jesus invites you to "be anxious for nothing, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV). Lay it down. Ask him to give you what you need. And then, breathe. Let his peace—even amid the chaos—be real to you.
