Midday Meetings: Prayer for Presence and Wisdom
A brief prayer guide to center yourself before, during, or after meetings. Bring your thoughts, concerns, and interactions to Jesus and ask for clarity, patience, and grace in the moments ahead.

Adoration
Start by noticing who Jesus is in the middle of your busy day. He is not distant from the details of your work—He is close. You might pray something like: Jesus, You are present in every room I enter. You see what I cannot see, and You care about what matters to me. As it says in Matthew, "where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them" (Matthew 18:20, ESV). Even in a conference room or video call, You are there. Help me remember that I am not alone in this meeting. You are with me, listening, guiding, steadying my heart.
Confession
Be honest about what's weighing on you in these meetings. Maybe you spoke too quickly, or you're carrying worry about something you cannot control. Maybe you're distracted, or you're struggling with impatience toward someone else. Jesus already knows—and He is not surprised by any of it. You might say: Jesus, I confess that I sometimes walk into meetings anxious about what others think of me. I get caught up in wanting to be right, or I'm not fully present because I'm thinking about the next thing. I'm sorry for the moments when I've been careless with my words or dismissive of someone else. Help me see where I need Your forgiveness and grace. As Paul wrote, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV).
Thanksgiving
Pause and notice one or two things you're grateful for right now—even small things. Maybe it's a colleague who listens well, or the chance to work on something meaningful, or simply that this day is not yours to carry alone. You might pray: Thank You, Jesus, for the people in these meetings—for their gifts, their perspectives, and their humanity. Thank You that I don't have to have all the answers. Thank You for giving me work that matters, even when it feels overwhelming. Thank You that You are patient with me when I'm impatient with others. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above" (James 1:17, ESV), and I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve and contribute today.
My Concerns
Now bring your specific needs before Jesus. What do you need Him for in this moment? Clarity? Patience? Words? Courage? A calm spirit? You might pray: Jesus, help me listen more than I speak today. Give me wisdom to know what matters most in these conversations. Calm my racing thoughts and help me stay present. If I need to say something difficult, give me kindness and honesty together. And if I need to stay quiet and hear what someone else is saying, help me do that with an open heart. Grant me patience with people who think differently than I do. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV). I'm trusting You with the outcomes of these meetings.
