Midday Pause: Finding Rest in Jesus
A gentle prayer guide to pause midday, reconnect with Jesus, and invite His presence into the rest of your day. This guide uses the ACTS framework to help you worship, be honest about what you're carrying, give thanks, and ask for what you need.
Midday
Everyday life
5–12 min
Adoration
Begin by simply noticing who Jesus is. You might start by remembering something about Him that steadies you — His faithfulness, His gentleness, His power. As the psalmist writes, "Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name" (Psalm 103:1, NIV). You don't need grand words. Just tell Jesus what draws you to Him. Maybe it's that He never leaves you, or that He listens when no one else does. Tell Him what you see in Him that matters. Let yourself rest in the truth that He is worthy of your attention, right here in the middle of your ordinary day.
Confession
Now bring Jesus what's true about you in this moment. You might be carrying frustration, weariness, or worry. You might notice places where you've rushed past Him or forgotten He's there. Jesus already knows — as Paul reminds us, "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1, NIV). You're safe to be honest. Talk to Him about where you've stumbled or where you're struggling. Not to earn His favor, but because confession draws you closer to His heart. He invites you to bring it all to Him.
Thanksgiving
Even in an ordinary midday, there is grace to notice. You might thank Jesus for small things — a moment of quiet, someone who encouraged you, breath in your lungs, or simply that He's there. The apostle Paul writes, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). Gratitude doesn't deny what's hard; it anchors you to what's true and good. Spend a moment naming the things — large or small — that you're grateful for. Let thanksgiving soften your heart and remind you that you're not walking through this day alone.
My Concerns
Finally, ask Jesus for what you need as you move forward into the rest of your day. Do you need peace? Clarity? Strength for what's ahead? Joy that isn't dependent on circumstances? Jesus invites you to ask: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, NIV). Tell Him what you're hoping for, what you're worried about, what you need from Him. He cares about the shape of your afternoon and your heart within it. Bring it to Him simply and trust that He hears.
