Midday
Meetings
5–12 min
Adoration
Begin by recognizing God's sovereignty over all human affairs and gatherings. As you pause from your busy day, acknowledge that the Lord sits above all earthly councils and conversations. The Psalmist reminds us, "The Lord reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne" (Psalm 47:8). Praise Him for His omniscience—He knows the outcome of every discussion, every decision, and every interaction we face. Thank Him that even in the midst of professional demands, He is present and attentive. Worship Him as the God who grants wisdom to those who ask, as James assures us: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault" (James 1:5).
Confession
Take a moment to examine your heart regarding your recent meetings and those ahead. Confess any moments where you spoke hastily without wisdom, where pride influenced your words, or where you failed to listen with genuine care for others. If you've been anxious about outcomes or conversations, acknowledge that anxiety reveals a trust issue. As Jesus taught, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself" (Matthew 6:34). Admit any dishonesty, impatience, or unkindness in your professional interactions. Ask God's forgiveness for relying on your own understanding rather than seeking His guidance first.
Thanksgiving
Express gratitude for the gifts God has given you that enable your work—your mind, your voice, your ability to listen, and your capacity to serve others through your professional role. Thank Him for the people in your meetings, even those who challenge you, recognizing that all relationships are opportunities for growth and witness. Psalm 100:4 reminds us to "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise." Give thanks for answered prayers from previous meetings, for insights you've gained, and for God's faithfulness to guide you through difficult professional seasons. Appreciate the provision that allows you to work and serve in your field.
My Concerns
Bring specific petitions before God regarding your meetings. Ask for clarity of thought and the ability to articulate your ideas effectively. Request wisdom to make good decisions and discernment to understand others' perspectives. Pray for patience with difficult colleagues and for grace in handling disagreements. As Philippians 4:6-7 instructs, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your words, to give you confidence without arrogance, and to help you represent Christ's character in all your professional dealings. Pray for unity among team members and for outcomes that honor God's purposes.
