Morning Meetings: Trusting Jesus in the Day Ahead

A prayer guide to help you bring your meetings, conversations, and interactions to Jesus as your day begins. You'll invite Him into the spaces where you'll speak, listen, and lead—and ask Him to guide your words and heart.

Morning Before a big moment
5–12 min

Good morning. Before your day fills with voices and agendas, take a few minutes to sit with Jesus and invite Him into the meetings ahead.

Adoration

Start by noticing who Jesus is. He is present in every room you'll enter today. He speaks with authority and perfect wisdom—not because He dominates, but because He knows the hearts of everyone around you. You might pray something like: Thank You, Jesus, that You are not distant from my work. You care about how I show up in meetings, how I listen, how I speak. As Paul reminds us, "whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving" (Colossians 3:23–24, NIV). Even in a conference room or video call, you are serving Him. Spend a moment letting that sink in—Jesus is present, and He cares about this day.

Confession

Now bring the weight you're carrying. Maybe you're anxious about speaking up. Maybe you're dreading a difficult conversation. Maybe you've already planned how you'll protect yourself or impress someone, and you know your heart isn't fully open. Be honest with Jesus about where you're not trusting Him yet. You might say: Jesus, I confess that I sometimes walk into meetings more focused on how I'll be perceived than on how I can serve. I worry about saying the wrong thing. I strategize instead of listen. And sometimes I'm not truthful about what I really think or feel because I'm afraid. Give yourself permission to name what's true for you. Jesus already knows—He invites you to speak it aloud so you can release it. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV).

Thanksgiving

Before you ask for anything, pause and thank Jesus for what He's already given you. Maybe it's people on your team who make you feel safe. Maybe it's His patience with you when you mess up. Maybe it's a skill or voice He's given you that you get to use. You might pray: Thank You for the people I'll see today. Thank You that You've equipped me with things to offer—listening ears, a steady presence, words that can help. Thank You that my worth isn't on the line in these meetings because it's already secure in You. "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). Gratitude settles your heart and reminds you that you're not walking into these meetings alone or empty.

My Concerns

Now ask Jesus for what you need. Be specific. Ask for clarity if you're wrestling with a decision that might come up. Ask for courage to speak truth kindly. Ask for the ability to listen well instead of waiting for your turn to talk. Ask for humility if you're tempted to win rather than serve. You might say: Jesus, help me listen more than I speak today. Give me words that are true and kind. If there's a hard conversation coming, calm my nerves and help me remember that You are in control, not me. Help me care more about what's right than about what's easy. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, NIV). Leave space here for your own requests—the ones only you know.
