Morning
Difficult
5–12 min
Adoration
Begin by fixing your eyes on who God is, even in this difficult season. Praise Him as El Shaddai, the God who is more than enough, whose power is made perfect in weakness. As Paul reminds us, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13). Take a moment to acknowledge the steadfastness of God's character—He does not diminish when our circumstances grow heavy. Declare with the psalmist: "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1). Though today brings weight, His presence outshines every shadow. Thank Him for being the God who draws near to the broken-hearted and crushed in spirit.
Confession
Come now with honesty before your Father. Confess the places where fear has taken root, where you've doubted His goodness, or where you've tried to bear this burden alone through your own strength. Acknowledge any resentment, anxiety, or despair that has crept into your heart. As the apostle John assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Don't hide your struggles—bring them into the light. Ask forgiveness for the ways you may have turned from Him in discouragement, and invite Him to cleanse your heart of anything that separates you from His peace this morning.
Thanksgiving
Even in difficulty, God invites you to find reasons for gratitude. Thank Him for the breath in your lungs, for His mercies that are new this very morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Express gratitude for past faithfulness—times He has sustained you through trials before and proved His trustworthiness. Thank Him for His Word, which stands firm when everything else shakes, and for the Holy Spirit who comforts and guides us into truth (John 14:26). Give thanks for the people, resources, and small graces that sustain you today. Most importantly, thank Him for sending His Son, Jesus, who experienced ultimate difficulty on the cross and rose victorious, securing hope for all who trust in Him.
My Concerns
Now bring your specific needs before the Father without reservation. Ask Him for courage to face this day with faith rather than fear. Pray for wisdom to know which steps to take and which burdens to release into His capable hands. As it says in Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Ask for practical help—for strength when you're weary, clarity when you're confused, and comfort when you're grieving. Request divine intervention in the specific circumstances pressing upon you. Most importantly, ask the Holy Spirit to anchor your identity in Christ, reminding you that your value and security rest not in circumstances but in being beloved by God.
