Peace in the Midst of Anxiety
A guided ACTS prayer for finding calm, trust, and God's peace when anxiety weighs heavily on your heart and mind.

Adoration
Begin by lifting your eyes from your worries to behold the character of God who is greater than any fear. Acknowledge His sovereignty and unfailing love. The Psalmist declares, "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1). Pause to recognize that God's strength is made perfect in our weakness, and His presence never wavers. As Paul reminds us, "God is not a God of fear, but of power, love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). Spend time marveling at His constancy, His watchfulness over your life, and His promise that nothing escapes His attention or His compassionate care.
Confession
Humbly acknowledge the areas where anxiety has taken root in your heart and mind. Confess any moments when you have relied on worry instead of trust, when fear has silenced your faith, or when you have forgotten God's promises in seasons of uncertainty. Be honest about the times you've allowed anxious thoughts to distance you from His presence. Jesus invites us, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28), yet often we carry our burdens alone. Ask God to forgive your inability to surrender fully, and thank Him that His mercies are new each morning and His grace covers every failure.
Thanksgiving
Express profound gratitude for God's protective love and the specific ways He has carried you through anxious seasons. Thank Him for the promise found in Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Give thanks for the Holy Spirit who intercedes for you, for faithful friends, for the resources and tools He provides to steady your mind, and for the certainty that He holds your future. Acknowledge gratefully that anxiety does not have the final word—God's love does.
My Concerns
Bring your specific anxieties before God with honest vulnerability. Name the fears, concerns, and worries that trouble you, trusting that He welcomes your honest heart. Ask Him to replace anxious thoughts with His truth, to calm your nervous system, and to grant you the peace that surpasses understanding. Petition Him to help you "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5), and to strengthen your faith when doubt creeps in. Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of His promises throughout your day, to grant you restful sleep if anxiety steals your peace at night, and to help you trust in His perfect plan even when you cannot see the way forward. Request the courage to take faithful action where needed, and the wisdom to know what is within your control and what to surrender to Him.
