Prayer Guide for Meetings

A structured ACTS prayer guide designed to prepare your heart before meetings, seek wisdom during discussions, and bring peace to collaborative moments. Perfect for professional gatherings, team discussions, or any meeting situation.

Anytime Meetings
5–12 min

Welcome to this moment of prayer before your meeting. Let's pause together to invite God's presence and wisdom into your discussions ahead.

Adoration

Begin by acknowledging God's supreme wisdom and authority over all human affairs. As Solomon wrote, 'The Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding' (Proverbs 2:6). Praise Him for His omniscience—He knows the hearts of all people in your meeting and sees the full scope of every decision to be made. Worship His character as the God who brings order and clarity to confusion, who speaks truth into every situation, and who equips His people with discernment.

Confession

Honestly examine your heart regarding the upcoming or current meeting. Confess any anxious thoughts, pride in your own opinions, or reluctance to listen to others with humility. Admit where you may have prepared inadequately or approached this meeting with selfish motives rather than a servant's heart. As James reminds us, 'Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others' (Philippians 2:4). Ask the Lord to forgive these attitudes and to cleanse your mind of the distractions and frustrations that may hinder genuine fellowship and productive discussion.

Thanksgiving

Express gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with others and contribute your gifts to a shared purpose. Thank God for colleagues, team members, or partners who bring different perspectives and strengths to the table. Give thanks that God promises to guide your words and actions as you seek His will, stating with confidence as the psalmist does, 'I have much to write to you, but I do not want to do so with pen and ink' yet 'May the Lord answer you when you are in distress' (Psalm 20:1). Appreciate the privilege of being part of a community where diverse voices can work toward common goals under God's governance.

My Concerns

Earnestly ask the Lord to grant you wisdom and discernment throughout the meeting—that you would listen well, speak truthfully, and recognize His guidance in the dialogue. Pray for clarity of thought and freedom from anxiety about outcomes, trusting that God can work through honest discussion even when disagreement exists. Request the Holy Spirit's empowerment to respond with grace rather than defensiveness, and ask that all participants would seek the greater good rather than personal advantage. Conclude with a specific petition: 'Direct me in the way I should go' (Psalm 5:8) and guide the meeting toward decisions that honor You and serve those affected by them.
