Seeking Guidance This Morning
A prayer guide for morning—when the day is still open before you and you need wisdom for the road ahead. This guide invites you to bring your questions to Jesus and listen for His direction.

Guidance
5–12 min
Adoration
Start by simply noticing who Jesus is—the One who sees the whole of your day before you do. He isn't distant or hurried. In Proverbs, wisdom calls out in the streets, eager to be found, and that wisdom is rooted in who Jesus is. Take a moment to thank Him for being a God who cares about the details of your day. You might pray something like: *Jesus, You are wise. You see around corners I cannot. I'm grateful that You're not surprised by what today holds, and that You want to guide me through it.* Let that settle for a moment—the simple fact that guidance itself is an act of His love toward you.
Confession
Now bring any hesitation you carry. Maybe you've ignored His guidance before, or you're afraid of what He might ask you to do. Maybe you're tempted to trust your own instinct instead of waiting for Him. You don't need to perform repentance here—just be honest. As it says in 1 John 1:9, when you confess what is true, He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you. That's not condemnation; it's an open door. Tell Him: *Jesus, I confess I sometimes move forward without asking You. I trust my own judgment more than I trust Your voice. And I'm sorry.* Pause. Let yourself feel the relief of being known and still loved.
Thanksgiving
What has Jesus guided you toward that turned out well? Maybe it was a small thing—a conversation, a decision, a moment where His way proved better than you expected. Or maybe it's simply that He hasn't abandoned you even when you've wandered. Thank Him for specific instances where His guidance protected you or led you somewhere good. You might pray: *Jesus, I'm grateful for the times You've steered me away from harm. I'm thankful that You speak in ways I can understand, and that You're patient when I'm slow to listen.* As Psalm 31:3 reminds us, He is indeed our rock and fortress, and for His name's sake, He leads us forward.
My Concerns
Now ask. Tell Jesus what you need guidance about today—or this week, or this season. Don't be vague or formal. Be specific. What decision are you weighing? What direction feels unclear? What are you afraid of choosing wrong? Bring it to Him as you would to a trusted friend. You might say: *Jesus, I need Your wisdom about [this specific thing]. Show me what You want me to do. Help me recognize Your voice—whether it comes through scripture, through wise friends, through circumstances, or through a quiet knowing in my spirit.* Then sit with your asking. You don't need an immediate answer; sometimes guidance unfolds as the day does. But ask Him to make His direction clear, to give you peace about the path forward, and to help you trust Him even if the way isn't yet fully lit.
