When Everything Feels Hard
A prayer guide for times when life presses in—when the weight is real and words feel impossible. This guide meets you where you are and helps you bring the heaviness directly to Jesus.

Adoration
Start by simply naming who Jesus is in this moment. Not because circumstances have changed, but because He remains unchanged. You might say something like: "Jesus, You are faithful even when I can't feel it." Or reflect on a time He was faithful before—maybe recently, maybe long ago. Let that truth steady you. As the psalmist writes in the midst of his own darkness, "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God" (Psalm 42:5, NIV). You're not pretending the difficulty isn't real; you're anchoring yourself to the One who is bigger than it.
Confession
Here, bring the honest things: the anger you might feel, the doubt creeping in, the places where you've turned away instead of toward Jesus. You don't need to dress it up. "I've been trying to handle this alone" or "I'm afraid You've forgotten me" are prayers He welcomes. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV)—and that invitation includes the weariness and the burden of how you've responded to them. Take a breath and tell Him what's actually in your heart. There's no judgment here, only a God who already knows and loves you anyway.
Thanksgiving
Even in difficulty, there are threads of grace woven through. Maybe it's someone who showed up, a small mercy you almost missed, or simply that you made it through another day. Maybe it's the fact that you can bring this to Jesus at all. Paul writes from prison: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4, NIV)—not because circumstances are light, but because Jesus Himself is our joy. Name one thing, however small, that you're grateful for. It might be "I'm thankful He hasn't left me" or "I'm thankful for tomorrow." Let that gratitude, however quiet, have its place.
My Concerns
Now ask. Bring your need directly: healing, wisdom, relief, strength for the next hour, help to trust again. Jesus told His disciples, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, NIV). You might pray: "I need You to show me the next step" or "Please help me believe this won't always feel this way" or "Give me courage for what's ahead." You can also ask for what you need from others—for comfort, for help, for space to grieve. And ask Jesus for the grace to receive those things when they come. End by placing this difficulty in His hands: "I don't have to carry this alone. I'm giving this to You."
