Wisdom for the Meetings Ahead

A morning prayer to bring Jesus into the meetings on your calendar today. Find clarity, courage, and His presence as you step into conversations that matter.

Morning Before a big moment
5–12 min

Before the day fills with voices and agendas, let's sit with Jesus for a few minutes. He cares about what's ahead of you today.

Adoration

Start by noticing who Jesus is in the midst of a busy morning. He doesn't rush. He doesn't lose sight of what matters. You might pray something like: "Jesus, You are present in every conversation. You see clearly when I'm confused. You speak truth when everything feels uncertain." Think of a time when His presence steadied you. As the psalmist says, "In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly" (Psalm 5:3, NIV). He's awake before you are. He's already in those meetings.

Confession

Now, be honest about what's weighing on you. Maybe you're worried about how you'll come across. Maybe there's conflict you're dreading, or you're afraid you'll say the wrong thing. You might whisper to Jesus: "I'm carrying anxiety about today. I want to control how things go. I'm not trusting You the way I should." There's no judgment here — only the freedom to name it. Jesus knows anyway. As He tells us, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV). He's inviting you to set down what you're carrying.

Thanksgiving

Even in a morning crowded with meetings, there's something to be grateful for. Thank Jesus for the people in those meetings — even the difficult ones. Thank Him for giving you a voice, a mind, and the chance to show up. You might say: "I'm grateful You've trusted me with these conversations. I'm thankful for the people I'll see today, even when it's hard. Thank You that I don't face this alone." Notice one small thing too — maybe it's coffee, or sunlight, or simply that you woke up. Paul reminds us, "Rejoice always... give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV). Gratitude shifts what we see.

My Concerns

Finally, ask Jesus for what you actually need. Not for the meetings to go perfectly, but for what will steady you in them. You might pray: "Jesus, give me clarity in conversation. Help me listen well. Show me how to speak truth with kindness. If there's conflict, guide me toward peace. Give me wisdom I don't have on my own." Be specific. Name the meeting that feels hardest. Ask Him for courage, for words, for presence. As James writes, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5, NIV). He's waiting for you to ask.
