A Fresh Start: Morning Prayer

Begin your day by inviting Jesus into whatever lies ahead. This guide uses Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication to help you offer the morning—and yourself—to him.

Morning Everyday life
5–12 min

Welcome. Take a breath and settle into this quiet moment. Jesus is here, and your morning is a gift worth offering to him.

Adoration

Start by noticing who Jesus is. He is already awake; he has already seen this day. As the psalmist writes, 'In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly' (Psalm 5:3, NIV). You might begin by simply naming something about Jesus that steadies you—his faithfulness, his presence, his strength. Talk to him about what it means to you that he meets you here, at the start of a new day. Let yourself sit with the reality that nothing surprises him. Nothing overwhelms him. And he is with you in it all.

Confession

Now gently bring anything that weighs on you. You don't need to perform perfection. Jesus says, 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest' (Matthew 11:28, NIV). If there are words you spoke carelessly yesterday, a way you turned inward instead of toward others, a fear you're nursing, or simply the small ways you drift from him—name them softly. There is no judgment here, only a friend who sees you completely and loves you anyway. You might pray something like, 'Jesus, I bring you...' and let the rest come naturally. He is listening.

Thanksgiving

Before the day pulls at you, pause and notice what you can be grateful for. It might be something big—a relationship, a dream—or something small and true: a warm cup, a window with light, breath in your lungs. As Paul reminds us, 'Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus' (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). Thank Jesus for the small faithfulness you see in your life. Thank him for meeting you this morning. Gratitude has a way of settling the heart and reminding you that you are held.

My Concerns

Finally, bring your day to Jesus. You don't need to know how everything will unfold—just tell him what matters. Are you facing a conversation that scares you? A decision that feels unclear? A moment that will require courage or patience? Talk to Jesus about it. Ask for what you need: clarity, courage, gentleness, wisdom, peace. The apostle Paul wrote, 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God' (Philippians 4:6, NIV). Jesus invites you to bring it all. He cares about the weight you carry and the hopes you hold.
