A Midday Celebration: Giving Jesus Your Joy
A prayer guide for pausing at midday to celebrate something good with Jesus—whether a small win, answered prayer, or simple blessing. This guide helps you share your joy and let gratitude deepen your connection with him.
Midday
Grateful for something
5–12 min
Adoration
Start by simply telling Jesus what you admire about him in this moment. You might notice something specific: his faithfulness, his generosity, his sense of humor in how he made the world, his nearness to you even in the middle of a regular day. There's no pressure to sound a certain way—just speak what's true. As the psalmist says, 'Let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy' (Psalm 5:11, NIV). Your joy itself is an offering of praise. Tell Jesus what you see of his character that made today possible. What about him makes you want to celebrate?
Confession
Now gently ask yourself: Have you been quick to credit yourself for this good thing, or slow to give him thanks? That's not a failure—it's just human. Talk to Jesus about the ways you might have forgotten he's the giver of every good gift. There's no judgment here, only honesty. As James reminds us, 'Every good and perfect gift is from above' (James 1:17, NIV), and when we forget that, we miss the deeper joy. You don't need a long list—just speak what comes to mind, and then let it go. Jesus is listening with open hands, not a checklist.
Thanksgiving
This is where your celebration truly belongs. Tell Jesus exactly what you're grateful for—name it out loud or in your heart. The specific win, the person involved, the moment you realized something good was happening. Don't rush through this. Let yourself actually feel the gratitude. The apostle Paul wrote, 'Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!' (Philippians 4:4, NIV). Your thanks feeds your joy and his joy at seeing you blessed. What does it feel like to say thank you for this? Let yourself linger there.
My Concerns
End by asking Jesus for the grace to carry this celebration forward. You might ask him to help you remember this goodness on harder days, or to use this joy to bless someone else, or simply to trust that he has more kindness ahead. You could also ask him what he wants you to do with this moment—sometimes a celebration is an invitation to something new. As you bring your requests, remember that Jesus delights in you. He's not waiting for you to ask for serious things only; he loves your hopes and dreams too. What would you like to ask him for next?
