A Midday Pause
A gentle prayer guide to pause your day, reconnect with Jesus, and carry his presence into the rest of your hours.

5–10 min
Adoration
Start by noticing what's true about who Jesus is. You might begin simply: Jesus, you are here. You are good. You are present even now, in this ordinary moment. As you sit here, think about something you've seen or felt today that shows you his character—a kindness, a strength, a steadiness. You don't need grand words. The psalmist invites us to recognize, "The heavens declare the glory of God" (Psalm 19:1, ESV), and that includes the quiet glories around you right now. Maybe it's the light coming through a window, a conversation that went well, or simply the fact that you're still here, still breathing, still held. Tell Jesus what you see in him. Worship him for who he has proven himself to be—not just in the big chapters of your life, but in this very day.
Confession
Now gently turn to anything that's come between you and Jesus since this morning. You might have spoken words you wish you hadn't, felt impatience creep in, or simply drifted into worrying about things he has asked you to trust him with. There's no shame in bringing these things into the light. Jesus already knows them, and he is waiting for you to name them aloud. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Take a moment. What needs to be spoken? What would it feel like to let it go and receive his forgiveness right here, right now? You are not too far gone, and your midday confession is not too small for his ear.
Thanksgiving
Move into gratitude—and notice where it lives even in an ordinary day. Thank Jesus for the specific gifts he's woven through these hours: rest you've had, work that gives you purpose, relationships that sustain you, or simply the ability to begin again. Paul reminds us, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV). Thanksgiving isn't reserved for mountaintops. It's a midday practice, a way of seeing his hand even in routine moments. What brought you a small joy today? What burden didn't fall on your shoulders? What person or provision can you be grateful for right now?
My Concerns
Finally, bring your needs to Jesus. The rest of your day stretches ahead—bring it to him. What do you need wisdom for? What feels heavy or uncertain? Where do you need his strength, his courage, or his peace? "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, ESV). You don't need to find perfect words. Simply name what matters. Ask him for what you genuinely need. And ask him to keep your heart close to his as the hours continue. This is the posture of someone who knows they are not alone.
