A Midday Pause: Prayer in the Midst of Meetings
A prayer guide for the middle of your day when meetings press in. This is a moment to step away, remember who holds your day, and find clarity and calm before you return to the table.

Adoration
Right now, in this small pocket of time between meetings, lift your eyes to the One who sees you. Jesus, you are present in every room—not just the ones we're sitting in, but in the very beating of our hearts as we navigate these conversations. You are the same Jesus who sat with the disciples and spoke with such stillness that they found peace in the middle of their uncertainty. As the Psalmist reminds us, "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1, ESV). You are worthy of our attention, even in the rush. Take a moment to tell Jesus what you most admire about Him—His steadiness, His wisdom, the way He listens without distraction. You might whisper, "Jesus, I belong to You before I belong to any agenda."
Confession
It's easy to let the pace of back-to-back meetings pull you away from what matters most. You might feel rushed, impatient, or caught up in proving yourself or performing for others. You might realize you've been carrying tension instead of surrendering it. That's where everyone finds themselves sometimes—and Jesus meets you there without judgment. As He invites us, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Tell Jesus honestly: where have you lost sight of His peace today? What have you been holding too tightly? Speak it without shame. He already knows, and He is not disappointed in you for being human.
Thanksgiving
Even in a day full of meetings, there are gifts worth naming. Perhaps someone listened well. Perhaps you said something true. Perhaps you're simply still here, still trying, still showing up. Jesus cares about these small moments of faithfulness. The Apostle Paul writes, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4, ESV). Take a breath and name one thing—maybe just one—that you're grateful for in this day so far. It might be coffee, or a kind word, or simply the fact that this meeting will eventually end. Thank Jesus for it. Let gratitude soften the afternoon ahead.
My Concerns
Now bring Jesus the weight you're carrying into the next hours. If you're worried about decisions, ask Him for wisdom. If you're anxious about how you'll be perceived, ask Him to anchor your worth in His eyes alone. If you're exhausted, ask Him for strength. Scripture says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, ESV). You can be specific: "Jesus, help me listen well in the next meeting." Or "Give me calm when I feel rushed." Or simply, "I need You." He is listening and will give you what you truly need, even if it arrives differently than you imagined.
