A Midday Pause with Jesus
A gentle prayer guide to pause and reconnect with Jesus in the middle of your day. Whether your morning has been full or quiet, this prayer invites you to step away briefly and remember that you are held.

Everyday life
5–10 min
Adoration
Start by simply noticing who Jesus is. You don't have to find perfect words—just turn your attention toward him. You might thank him for his steadiness, for the way he shows up in ordinary moments. As the psalmist says, "You have set your glory above the heavens" (Psalm 8:1, ESV), and yet Jesus became human, walked among us, sat by wells and ate with friends. He knows what a midday feels like. Tell him what draws you to him today. Is it his gentleness? His strength? His faithfulness? Let yourself speak it aloud or whisper it—whatever feels true right now.
Confession
Here in the quiet, invite Jesus to show you anything that's been weighing on you or pulling you away from him—not to shame you, but to free you. Maybe you've carried frustration into this day, or spoken harshly, or doubted his goodness. Maybe you've simply been rushed and distant. There's no judgment here. As Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (ESV). Name what needs naming. He already knows it, and he's already moving toward you with grace. Tell him what you need to let go of.
Thanksgiving
Now turn your gaze toward what he's done and given. Look back at this morning, this week—even small things count. A warm cup of coffee. A kind word from someone. A moment when you felt his presence. A breath you didn't have to think about. As Paul writes, "Rejoice and be thankful" (Colossians 3:15, ESV). Thank Jesus specifically. Don't rush this. Let gratitude settle into your chest. It changes something in us when we pause to name what we've been given.
My Concerns
Finally, bring your needs and the needs of those you love to Jesus. What do you need for the rest of your day? Clarity? Patience? Courage? Peace? What are you carrying for someone else? Name it. Jesus invites us to ask: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). Bring your whole heart—your worries, your hopes, your questions. He is listening, and he cares about what matters to you. Tell him what you need.
