A Morning of Joy

Start your day with Jesus in celebration. This prayer guide helps you share your joy with him, give thanks for his goodness, and ask him to sustain the gladness you're experiencing.

Morning Grateful for something
5–12 min

Good morning. You're coming to prayer with joy in your heart—what a gift. Let's begin by turning that joy toward Jesus and letting him in on what's making you smile.

Adoration

Begin by telling Jesus what you see in him this morning. You don't need grand words—just bring your gladness to his feet. Tell him what you love about his character. Maybe it's his faithfulness, his generosity, his power to restore, or the way he always shows up. The psalmist invites us into this: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV). Your joy this morning is an invitation to worship him. Spend a moment naming the qualities of Jesus that make you want to praise him. Let your celebration become adoration.

Confession

Here's the gentle truth: even in moments of celebration, our hearts can grow proud or forgetful. We might take credit for blessings that come from his hand, or we might rush forward without pausing to acknowledge him. Talk to Jesus about any ways you've missed seeing his fingerprints on this good thing. Have you forgotten to credit him? Has excitement made you unkind to someone else? He invites us to come as we are: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). This isn't about dampening your joy—it's about clearing the way for it to flow freely toward him.

Thanksgiving

Now lean into gratitude fully. What specifically are you celebrating? A promotion, a relationship breakthrough, good health, answered prayer, a small kindness, a dream coming true? Name it. Thank Jesus for it. And as you do, zoom out a little—thank him for the smaller mercies woven through this moment too. The safety that got you here. The people who cheered you on. Your own courage or perseverance. As Paul writes, "Rejoice and be thankful" (Colossians 3:15, ESV). Let thanksgiving expand your celebration, not shrink it. Every good gift traces back to his open hand.

My Concerns

End by asking Jesus to do something with this joy. Maybe you're asking him to sustain it through hard days ahead. Maybe you're asking him to help you stay humble and share this blessing generously with others. Perhaps you're asking him to deepen your trust in him—to show you that if he's good in this moment, he's good in the uncertain ones too. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). What do you want to ask him to do next? Speak it. He's listening.
