A Morning of Joy

Start your day by bringing your celebration to Jesus. This prayer guide helps you pause and offer your joy back to the One who made it possible, setting the tone for a day lived in gratitude and wonder.

Morning Grateful for something
5–12 min

Good morning. You've got joy on your heart today, and what a gift that is. Let's bring it straight to Jesus and let Him in on what you're celebrating.

Adoration

Begin by turning your attention to Jesus himself—not just what He's done, but who He is. There's something beautiful about celebrating in His presence rather than in isolation. You might start by thanking Him for being the kind of God who delights with us. As the psalmist writes, "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV). Notice the invitation—not just to rejoice in your circumstances, but in Him. Talk to Jesus about what you love about Him. His faithfulness. His generosity. His love that holds even this moment of joy. Tell Him how good it feels to know He's here with you, sharing in what you're celebrating.

Confession

Take a quiet moment here. Sometimes when we're celebrating, we can drift into thinking we've earned this joy through our own effort, or we forget the One who made it possible. You might gently ask Jesus: Where have I given credit elsewhere? Have I let this good thing become my focus instead of you? There's no shame in naming this—Jesus already knows, and He meets us with such tenderness. As He reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Speak honestly about any way you've let this celebration pull you away from Him, and let yourself feel the relief of bringing it into the light.

Thanksgiving

Now here's where your heart gets to fully expand. This is the place to name everything—the specific thing you're celebrating, the people involved, the unexpected goodness that led here, the way it surprised you. As you give thanks, remember that Jesus sees every detail. He was there in the small moments that led to this big one. You might pray, "Jesus, thank you for...," and let the gratitude pour out. The Psalmist knew this too: "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name" (Psalm 100:4, NIV). Let your thanksgiving be specific and warm. Don't rush it. Savor telling Jesus about the goodness you've received.

My Concerns

As you move into this final step, ask Jesus to help you carry this joy well. You might pray for wisdom to share it generously with others. Ask Him to anchor this celebration in Him, so that when circumstances change—as they always do—your joy remains rooted in His faithfulness, not in fleeting good feelings. Talk to Him about what comes next: How do you want me to live out of this joy? Who needs to see it? How can this celebration point others toward you? Jesus promises, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7, NIV). Bring your hopes and your longings to Him. Ask Him to direct the energy of your celebration toward purposes that matter.
