A Morning Offering

Start your day by inviting Jesus into the hours ahead. This guide helps you offer yourself to God, acknowledge what you're carrying, give thanks for His faithfulness, and ask for His presence and guidance as you move through your day.

Morning Everyday life
5–12 min

Good morning. Before your day unfolds, sit with Jesus for a few moments and let Him set the tone for everything ahead.

Adoration

Begin by simply noticing who Jesus is. You might start by recognizing His faithfulness—the fact that you woke to another day, another chance, another opportunity to walk with Him. As the psalmist writes, "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad" (Psalm 118:24, ESV). Take a moment to tell Jesus what draws your heart to Him this morning. Is it His steadiness? His mercy? His presence that never leaves you, even when the day ahead feels uncertain?

Let your adoration be simple and honest. You don't need eloquent words—just your genuine gratitude for who He is. "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power" (Revelation 4:11, ESV). Whisper that truth back to Him, or say it in your own way. Let Him know that before anything else happens today, He matters to you.

Confession

Now bring the weight you might be carrying. Not to be condemned, but to be freed. If there are words you spoke yesterday that hurt someone, or thoughts you nursed that pulled you away from peace, or ways you turned inward instead of toward Jesus—name them gently here. The Father already knows, and He's waiting to help you set them down.

You don't have to clean yourself up first. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). That promise means you can come exactly as you are. Ask Jesus to show you what needs His light this morning, and then simply tell Him about it. He listens without turning away.

Thanksgiving

Move into gratitude for the specific gifts already in your hands. The breath in your lungs. A person who cares about you. A meal you'll eat. A skill you've been given. The simple fact that Jesus is patient with you, day after day. Thanksgiving doesn't require a perfect life—it only requires noticing what's already true.

As Paul reminds us, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV). That "all circumstances" includes this ordinary morning, this general day ahead. Thank Jesus for three things, big or small. Let gratitude settle into your chest before you move forward.

My Concerns

Finally, ask Jesus for what you truly need today. Not what you think you should need, but what you actually need. Presence. Strength. Clarity. Patience. Courage. Help with something specific that's on your mind. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). He invites your honest asking.

Talk to Jesus about your day as it unfolds ahead of you. Ask Him to walk with you through it, to guide your words and decisions, to keep your heart tethered to His when things get busy or hard. Ask Him to remind you—when you need it most—that you're not alone. He's already there, waiting for you in every moment ahead.
