A Morning Prayer Before Meetings

A prayer guide to help you bring your day of meetings to Jesus—asking for clarity, wisdom in conversation, and peace as you step into each room.

Morning Before a big moment
5–12 min

Take a few moments this morning to sit with Jesus before the day's meetings begin. He's already present in what's ahead.

Adoration

Begin by noticing that Jesus is already present in this day ahead of you. He is not waiting for your meetings to end before He meets with you. Talk to Him about who He is: the one who speaks truth, who listens deeper than anyone else ever could, who knows what each conversation needs before it begins. You might pray something like, "Jesus, You are wisdom itself. You know every heart in every room I'll enter today." Let that land. As the psalmist writes, "Great is our Lord and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure" (Psalm 147:5, ESV). Sit with that truth for a moment. He is not anxious about your meetings. He is steady, intentional, fully present. Let His calm become yours.

Confession

Now bring the honest parts—the places where you feel less than ready. Maybe you're carrying doubt about what you'll say, or worry that you'll be misunderstood, or frustration from a conversation that didn't go well before. You don't need to perform confidence you don't have. Jesus already knows. Talk to Him about the times you've spoken carelessly, or stayed silent when you should have spoken, or let anxiety do the talking instead of wisdom. There's no judgment here—only the God who says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Bring it all. The small anxieties. The old regrets. Hand them to Him, and notice that His forgiveness comes before your next meeting even starts.

Thanksgiving

Look back, even briefly, at what Jesus has done. Thank Him for the people you'll see today—even the difficult ones. Thank Him for clarity He's given you in past conversations, for moments when the right words came, for relationships that matter. Thank Him for coffee, for morning light, for another chance to show up and be present. You might say, "Jesus, I'm grateful for how You've guided my words before, and I'm grateful You'll be with me today." As Paul writes, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV). Gratitude settles your heart. It reminds you that you're not carrying the day alone.

My Concerns

Now ask. Bring your specific needs to Jesus—not as a wish list, but as a conversation with someone who cares. Ask for clarity: help me know what to say and when to listen. Ask for wisdom: show me what each person in the room actually needs from this conversation. Ask for peace: calm my racing thoughts so I can think straight and stay present. Ask for humility: help me speak truth without needing to win. You might say, "Jesus, give me wisdom in the meeting at 10 o'clock. Help me listen well. If I'm nervous, settle that. If I'm unclear, show me." Jesus invites you to bring it: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, ESV). He is listening, and He will meet you in each room.
