A Morning Prayer Before Meetings
A prayer guide to bring Jesus into your day of conversations and decisions. Use this to settle your heart, invite His presence into the meetings ahead, and ask for wisdom, patience, and grace in your interactions.

Adoration
Start by simply noticing Jesus' presence with you this morning. He is already awake. He is already aware of every conversation you will have today. You might speak to Him about His character — His calm authority, His ability to see what you cannot, His perfect timing. As the psalmist writes, "In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly" (Psalm 5:3, NIV). Jesus doesn't rush. He doesn't get flustered by competing demands or difficult people. Take a moment to tell Him how much you need that kind of steadiness in you today.
Let your words turn to His wisdom and patience. He sat with people, listened, and spoke truth without harshness. "The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary" (Isaiah 50:4, NIV). You don't have all the answers for today's meetings, but He does. Spend a moment in quiet respect for that — for a Jesus who sees what each person in your meetings truly needs, even when you cannot.

Confession
There's something honest to name here: you might walk into these meetings already tired, already defensive, or already assuming the worst. You might have rehearsed difficult conversations in your head, or you might feel the weight of needing to prove yourself or win an argument. That's human, and it's safe to name with Jesus. He isn't shocked by it.
Talk to Him about where you feel small or anxious in meetings. Where do you tend to speak too quickly, or stay silent when you should speak? Where do you hide rather than show up? "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). You don't need to perform or manage His opinion of you. Simply tell Him what you're carrying, and let yourself be seen. Ask Him to soften any hardness in your heart toward the people you'll meet today — any impatience, dismissal, or resentment. That release makes space for something truer to grow.

Thanksgiving
Before the day rushes in, take a breath and thank Jesus for concrete things. Thank Him for the chance to speak, to listen, to influence something good — even small. Thank Him for people in these meetings who have helped you, who have shown you grace, who have surprised you with kindness. "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV).
Thank Him for past meetings that went better than you feared. Thank Him for mistakes that taught you something. Thank Him for the fact that He is not grading you on performance — He already knows you fully and loves you. That changes everything. Your worth is not on the line in these meetings because your worth is already settled in Him. You might even thank Him for the meetings you dread, because they are a chance to see Him work in you, to watch Him show up in your weakness.

My Concerns
Now bring your actual meetings to Jesus. Name them if you can — the one at nine, the difficult conversation, the decision that needs to be made. For each one, you might ask: "Jesus, would you give me clarity? Would you help me listen well? Would you take my anxiety and replace it with Your peace?" "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, NIV).
Ask Him to speak through you — not your agenda, but His kindness. Ask Him to soften hearts, including your own. Ask for wisdom when you don't know what to say. "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5, NIV). Ask Him to help you see the people in your meetings as He sees them — not as obstacles or judges, but as people who matter. And ask Him to remind you, in the middle of a hard moment, that you are not alone. He will be in that room with you.
