A Morning Prayer Before Your Meetings

A gentle prayer guide to center yourself before the day's meetings. Use this to bring your concerns, hopes, and the people you'll meet into conversation with Jesus—so you can show up with clarity, kindness, and calm.

Morning Before a big moment
5–12 min

Good morning. Before the day pulls you in a hundred directions, take a few minutes here with Jesus. He's already thinking about your meetings—and about you.

Adoration

Begin by simply noticing that Jesus is already present. He is not surprised by your meetings, your nerves, or the weight of the conversations ahead. Spend a moment telling Him what draws you to Him this morning. You might say something like: 'Jesus, You are steady when I feel scattered' or 'You care about the people I'm about to meet even more than I do.' Let your words be honest and personal. As the psalmist reminds us, 'In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation' (Psalm 5:3, NIV). Your meeting day is not hidden from Him—it's held by Him. Spend a moment letting that truth settle. You are not carrying this alone.

Confession

Here's a safe place to be honest: What's making your chest tight about today? Is it fear of saying the wrong thing? Irritation you're already bracing for? A tendency to people-please that leaves you exhausted? Don't minimize it. Just name it to Jesus. You might pray, 'I'm worried I won't be heard' or 'I'm frustrated before we even start' or 'I care too much what they think of me.' Jesus doesn't flinch. He knows already. As Paul writes to the Philippians, 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God' (Philippians 4:6, NIV)—which means your anxiety itself is welcome here, not something to hide. Bring it. Talk to Jesus about where you're trying to control things instead of trust, or where you've already decided how things will go. That honesty opens the door for real peace.

Thanksgiving

Even in a morning that feels heavy with meetings, there is something to notice and thank Him for. Maybe it's the people in those meetings—someone you respect, someone you hope to connect with, someone who makes you laugh. Maybe it's clarity you've found, or a skill you've developed, or simply that you get another day to try. You might even thank Him for the meetings themselves—they matter, which is why they make you nervous. As Colossians reminds us, 'Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful' (Colossians 3:15, NIV). Notice one or two genuine things you can be grateful for in this day. Gratitude shifts something in you—it reminds you that you're not just surviving these meetings, you're part of something meaningful.

My Concerns

Now bring your real needs. You might ask Jesus for: words that are honest and kind, a calm spirit when you feel rushed, wisdom to listen well, courage to speak up, or grace for the person who pushes your buttons. You might pray for the outcomes you hope for, but more importantly, ask Him to help you show up as yourself—not a better version, just the honest, real you. Jesus invites this directly: 'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you' (Matthew 7:7, NIV). Don't be vague. Tell Him specifically: 'Help me stay calm when...' or 'Give me the courage to...' or 'Help me see them the way You see them.' He is listening, and your asking matters. Before you step into your first meeting, take one steady breath and remind yourself: the One who knows you best is already in that room.
