A Morning Prayer Before Your Meetings
A prayer guide to center yourself in Jesus before a day of meetings. This guide helps you bring your concerns, hopes, and need for wisdom into conversation with God, so you can step into your day grounded and guided.
Morning
Before a big moment
5–12 min
Adoration
Start by simply noticing Jesus with you in this quiet moment before the day fills up. You might pray something like: Jesus, you are patient and unhurried, even when my day feels rushed. You know every word I'll speak today before I say it (Psalm 139:2, ESV). Take a breath and let that sink in — the God who created time itself is already present in your meetings. There's no pressure to perform or impress him. He sees you fully and loves you already. You might thank him for his steadiness, for the way he never loses focus, never gets flustered. As it says in Isaiah, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you" (Isaiah 26:3, ESV). Before anything else happens today, rest in the fact that he is with you.
Confession
Bring to Jesus the weight you're carrying — maybe anxiety about how you'll come across, or frustration you're already feeling, or words you know you shouldn't speak. You don't need to clean yourself up first. Jesus invites you to come as you are. You might say: I confess that I often walk into these meetings thinking I need to have it all together, that I need to prove my worth through what I say or accomplish. Forgive me for forgetting that my value isn't on the line — yours is secure in you. If there are specific moments you're dreading, or relationships that feel tender, name them gently to him. He's not shocked or disappointed by what you're feeling. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Let yourself be honest. That's where freedom begins.
Thanksgiving
Even before the meetings happen, there's something to be grateful for. You might pray: Thank you for the people I'll encounter today — even the difficult ones have something to teach me. Thank you for giving me a voice and a mind to use. Thank you that my mistakes don't surprise you and don't disqualify me from your love. Look around at small things: a cup of coffee, the fact that you woke up, the chance to try again today. "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV). Gratitude isn't about pretending your day is easy — it's about recognizing that Jesus is good even when the day is hard. That changes everything.
My Concerns
Now bring your actual needs to Jesus. Be specific. You might pray: Give me wisdom in my words today — help me listen more than I speak, help me speak truth with kindness. Calm my nervous system so I can think clearly. If there's a difficult conversation coming, guide me through it with patience. If I feel overwhelmed, remind me to breathe and remember you're here. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, ESV). Ask him for what you actually need — not to perform perfectly, but to be present, grounded, and true to yourself. Ask him to order your day according to his wisdom, not your fear.
