Adoration
Begin by turning your attention to Jesus and who He is. You might start by acknowledging His character—the One who delights in our joy, who celebrates with us. As Paul writes, 'Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice' (Philippians 4:4, ESV). Take a moment to tell Jesus what moves you about His nature—perhaps His generosity, His faithfulness, or the way He shows up in moments of joy. You don't need fancy words; just sit with the warmth of knowing that the God who made everything is present with you right now, and He is good. Let your celebration tonight be an offering of praise to Him.
Confession
Even in joyful moments, there's often something beneath the surface worth bringing to Jesus. You might confess places where you've been slow to share your joy with Him, or times you've forgotten to give Him credit for the blessings in your life. Maybe you've celebrated something and felt a shadow of pride, or you've kept good news to yourself instead of letting it draw you closer to Him. Jesus invites you to be honest here—there's no shame in it. As John reminds us, 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:9, ESV). Bring whatever is in your heart to Him, and let His grace wash over you.
Thanksgiving
This is where your celebration truly becomes prayer. Take time to name what you're grateful for—the specific thing you're celebrating, the people involved, the way God showed up, the unexpected turns that led here. Be particular; Jesus loves the details. You might pray: 'Thank you for this joy. Thank you for the way you've guided me to this moment. Thank you for the people I get to share this with.' The psalmist writes, 'Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name' (Psalm 100:4, ESV). Let your thankfulness deepen—not just for the celebration itself, but for the God whose love makes all good things possible.
My Concerns
Close your time by bringing forward what matters most to you now. You might ask Jesus to help you hold this joy close in harder seasons ahead, or to guard your heart from pride as you celebrate. You could ask Him to strengthen the relationships that made this moment possible, or to show you how to use this blessing in a way that honors Him. As you ask, remember that He hears you and cares about what you care about. Jesus said, 'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find' (Matthew 7:7, ESV). Bring your hopes, your prayers for others, and your trust in His continued goodness into this conversation with Him.
