An Evening of Wrestling and Rest

A prayer guide for evening when the day has been difficult. This is a space to name what happened, bring your whole self to Jesus, and find rest in his presence even when circumstances remain hard.

Good evening. Whatever this day held, you're not meant to carry it alone into the night. Jesus is here to listen to all of it.

Adoration

Before you lay this difficult day at Jesus' feet, pause and notice that he is still here—still good, still steady. You don't have to earn his attention or clean yourself up first. As the psalmist discovered,

Thanksgiving

Even on a hard day, God has not withdrawn himself from you. There is something to be grateful for, even if it feels small. You might thank Jesus for one thing—maybe it's someone who listened, a moment of peace, strength that showed up when you needed it, or simply that this difficult day is ending. As Paul writes,

My Concerns

What you need right now matters to Jesus. He is not tired of hearing from you or annoyed by the weight of it. Bring before him the thing—or the many things—that are still pressing on your heart. You might ask him directly: for relief, for clarity, for help you can't find anywhere else, for peace to sleep, for strength to face tomorrow. Jesus invites you to lay it all down:
