Before the Meetings: A Morning Prayer for Clarity and Presence
Start your morning by bringing your meetings to Jesus. This guide helps you surrender the day's conversations, seek wisdom for the discussions ahead, and invite His presence into each room you'll enter.

Adoration
Begin by remembering who Jesus is in the midst of your busy morning. He is present in every conversation, every decision point, every moment when you need to listen well or speak truth. As it's written, "In him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:17, ESV)—including this day and these meetings. Take a moment to thank Him for His steadiness. You might simply say, "Jesus, You are here. You see what's ahead of me today, and You care about how these conversations unfold." Let yourself rest in the truth that you're not walking into these meetings alone. "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them" (Matthew 18:20, ESV)—and He goes with you into every room.
Confession
Now, gently turn your attention to how you often show up in meetings. Where do you feel the pull to manage impressions, to win a point, or to protect yourself? That's not accusation—it's just honest noticing. You might pray, "Jesus, I confess that sometimes I enter these spaces more focused on how I'm perceived than on listening well, or more intent on being right than on being kind." Bring whatever feels true for you. The beautiful invitation here is that He doesn't shame you for this. "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1, ESV). Instead, He invites you to something better: to show up with more openness, more humility, more genuine care for the people across the table.
Thanksgiving
Thank Jesus for specific gifts that will serve you in these meetings today. Maybe it's the ability to listen, or a mind that can hold complex ideas, or a heart that cares about the people involved. You might say, "Thank You, Jesus, for giving me the capacity to think clearly, to speak honestly, and to hear others well." Thank Him for the relationships in these meetings—for colleagues, for the chance to work toward something together. "Every good and perfect gift is from above" (James 1:17, ESV), including your own strengths and the people you'll be with. Pause and name at least one thing you're genuinely grateful for as you face this day.
My Concerns
Now bring your actual needs. Ask Jesus for what you're really hoping for in these meetings. Do you need wisdom about a decision? Courage to speak up? Patience to listen to someone difficult? Clarity about your role? "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). You don't need perfect words—just honest ones. You might pray, "Jesus, I need clarity in the 10 a.m. meeting about how to move forward. Help me listen before I speak. Give me words that are both honest and kind." Bring each meeting to Him, one by one if that feels right. Then ask for the one thing underneath it all: His presence. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you" (John 14:27, ESV). Ask Him to let you carry that peace into each conversation.
