Before the Meetings Begin

A morning prayer to center yourself before a day of meetings. This guide helps you invite Jesus into the conversations ahead, release anxiety about what you cannot control, and step into each interaction with clarity and grace.

Morning Before a big moment
5–12 min

Before your day fills with voices and agendas, take a few minutes to listen for the one voice that matters most. Jesus is here with you this morning.

Adoration

Start by noticing who Jesus is in the quietness before the day begins. He is not distant from the pressure you feel—He knows what it is like to be in difficult conversations, to listen carefully, to speak truth with love. As you read in John's Gospel, "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:14, ESV)—He understands the weight of human interaction because He lived it. Take a moment to thank Him for His presence. You might pray something like: *Jesus, You are present in every moment today, even in the meetings that feel overwhelming. You are wise, patient, and kind. I worship You this morning.* Notice what else comes to mind about who He is—His steadiness, His authority, His care for you.

Confession

Now bring the truth of where you are. Maybe there is anxiety sitting in your chest about a particular conversation. Maybe you are carrying frustration from a meeting yesterday. Maybe you already know you will struggle with patience or honesty in the hours ahead. Jesus invites you to name these things, not to shame you, but to free you from carrying them alone. As He said, "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). You might say: *Jesus, I confess my worry about today. I confess the frustration I am holding onto. I confess that I want to control outcomes instead of trusting You.* Name what is true for you. There is no judgment waiting here—only the One who knows you entirely and loves you still.

Thanksgiving

Before you ask for what you need, pause to notice what is already true. You have made it through every meeting that came before this day. You have been given people in your life—colleagues, leaders, team members—who challenge you and teach you. You have the capacity to listen, to think, to respond with wisdom that is not your own. Paul writes, "Rejoice always; again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV)—and this includes gratitude in the ordinary, even in meetings. Thank Jesus for the specific people you will see today. Thank Him for the opportunity to work, to contribute, to be present. You might pray: *Thank You for the people in my meetings today. Thank You that I am not doing this alone. Thank You that You have already equipped me for this.*

My Concerns

Now bring your actual needs to Jesus. What do you most need from Him in the hours ahead? Calm in your body. Clarity in your thinking. Kindness in how you listen. The courage to speak what needs to be said. Wisdom to know when to step back. Just tell Him. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV). You might pray: *Jesus, I need Your peace today. Help me listen well. Give me words that are honest and kind. Remind me that my worth is not determined by how these meetings go.* Sit with your requests for a moment. He is listening, and He cares about the details of your day.
