Adoration
Begin by simply noticing who Jesus is in the midst of your seeking. He is not distant or impatient with your questions. As you settle into this quiet moment, you might acknowledge His character: Jesus, You are wisdom itself. You see the beginning and the end, and nothing catches You off guard. The Psalms tell us, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye upon you" (Psalm 32:8, ESV). That is who You are—a guide who is both competent and tender. You do not rush. You do not withhold what we truly need to know.
Take a moment to let that sink in. You are not praying to a distant principle or a vague force. You are speaking to Jesus, who loves you and has proven it. As you sit with His character, you might simply whisper: Thank You for being trustworthy. Thank You for caring about the details of my life.

Confession
Now bring honesty into this space. Where have you tried to navigate this decision or uncertainty alone? Where have you assumed you needed to figure everything out before moving forward? There is no judgment here—only invitation.
Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Notice that He does not ask you to have it all solved first. You can come as you are: confused, tired, second-guessing yourself. If you have rushed ahead without seeking Him, or held back because you were afraid to ask, name that gently now. If you have trusted in your own understanding more than His, that is worth saying aloud. This is the place where you can be real.

Thanksgiving
Even in uncertainty, there is much to be grateful for. Thank Jesus for the ways He has already guided you—the doors He has opened, the protection He has provided, the people He has placed in your life. You might think back to a time when you felt His leading clearly and thank Him for that memory.
Gratitude also anchors you in trust. As Paul writes, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). Naming what you are grateful for—even one thing—tells your heart that God is good, that He can be trusted. Thank Him for the night ahead, for rest, for the opportunity to bring these questions to Him.

My Concerns
Now you are ready to ask. This is where you bring your specific need for guidance into the light. Be direct with Jesus. What decision are you facing? What path feels unclear? What would it mean for you to experience His guidance in this area?
You might pray something like: "Jesus, I need wisdom about..." or "I am uncertain about the next step regarding..." Then sit quietly and listen. Sometimes guidance comes as a sudden clarity. Sometimes it comes as a gentle sense of peace about a direction. Sometimes it comes through a verse, a conversation, or simply a growing confidence. You do not need to hear an audible voice; Jesus often whispers through the still, small movements of His Spirit.
As you wait, hold loosely to your timeline. Ask Him not just for an answer, but for faith to trust Him as the answer unfolds. Proverbs 3:5-6 invites us: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (ESV). Bring any lingering anxiety to Him—the pressure you feel, the fear of making a mistake. He is big enough to hold it.
