Adoration
Start by simply acknowledging who Jesus is to you in this moment. You might think of a quality of His that steadied you today—His faithfulness, His gentleness, His strength. Tell Him what you see. You could pray something like: "Jesus, I see how You've been patient with me. You've held me through this day." Notice how the Psalmist invites us into this: "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord" (Psalm 27:4, NIV). You don't need perfect words—just honesty. What about Jesus draws your heart tonight?
Confession
Now, gently turn to anything that sits heavy on your conscience from today. There's no judgment here—Jesus already knows, and He invites you to bring it to Him. You might say: "I spoke harshly to someone," or "I carried worry instead of trust," or simply, "I fell short today." As John writes, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). Notice the promise wrapped in that—not condemnation, but cleansing. Take a breath, name what needs naming, and let yourself feel the weight lift.
Thanksgiving
Even in an ordinary day, there are gifts. Can you spot them? Perhaps it was a kind word, a moment of rest, someone's laughter, or simply that you made it through. You might pray: "Thank You for..." and name three things, small or large. The Apostle Paul reminds us, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). Gratitude doesn't ignore hard things—it simply trains your heart to notice God's presence alongside them. What would you like to thank Jesus for tonight?
My Concerns
Finally, bring your needs and desires before Jesus. What do you need as you head toward rest? Peace? Healing? Wisdom for tomorrow? Comfort? You might pray: "Jesus, I need...," or "I'm asking You to..." There's an invitation in these words: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV). He listens. He cares. Nothing is too small or too big to bring to Him. What's on your heart as this day closes?
