Adoration
Start by noticing what draws you to Jesus right now. Maybe it's His faithfulness through the day. Maybe it's simply that He's here with you as dusk arrives. You might pray something like: "Jesus, I see how You've steadied me today. You are patient, and You never leave." Think about one way His character showed up for you—perhaps in a moment of clarity, in someone's kindness, or simply in the fact that you made it here. Let that land. As the Psalmist writes, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord" (Psalm 27:4, ESV). You're gazing on that beauty right now, in this quiet moment. Rest there for a breath or two.
Confession
Now, gently, bring the weight you've been carrying. Not to condemn yourself, but to set it down. Where did you miss the mark today? Where did impatience, unkindness, or distraction take the wheel? You don't need to list everything—just the thing that comes to mind. Talk to Jesus about it honestly. "I spoke harshly when I could have paused. I worried instead of trusting. I wasn't fully present with the people I love." Whatever it is, name it. And here's the truth that holds you: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Jesus isn't waiting for you to be perfect before you arrive at His feet. He's waiting to forgive. So bring it, and let it go.
Thanksgiving
Shift your eyes now to gratitude. What did you receive today that you didn't earn? A meal. A kind word. The fact that you woke up. A moment of peace. A person who believes in you. Don't rush this—let yourself feel thankful for small things and large ones alike. You might pray: "Thank You for rest. Thank You for this person. Thank You that even when I stumbled, You didn't turn away." Paul writes, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV). Thanksgiving isn't about ignoring what's hard; it's about seeing Jesus's hand even in ordinary moments. Spend time noticing where He shows up.
My Concerns
Finally, bring what you need. Tomorrow is waiting. Maybe you need rest tonight—real, honest sleep. Maybe you need courage for what's ahead, or healing, or wisdom, or just the awareness that you're not alone. Be specific. "Jesus, I'm anxious about tomorrow. Calm my mind." Or "I feel tired in ways sleep won't fix. Meet me there." Bring the weight you're carrying forward. And remember: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Jesus isn't dismissing your concerns—He's inviting you to lay them at His feet. So ask. Ask boldly. Ask knowing He hears you and cares about what happens to you next.
