Evening Reflection & Rest
A gentle prayer guide to close your day with Jesus—reflecting on what has been, releasing what weighs on you, and preparing your heart for rest.

Adoration
Start by simply noticing who Jesus is. You might think back over your day and recall a moment—however small—where you sensed His presence or provision. Maybe it was a kind word from a friend, a quiet moment of beauty, or simply that you made it through. Bring that to mind and thank Him for it. As the apostle Paul reminds us, we can "rejoice always" and "in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:4, 6, NIV). Your praise doesn't have to be grand or eloquent—it can be as simple as "Thank you, Jesus, for today" or "I see you in this."
Take a few breaths here. Let your heart settle into the reality that the God who made the stars above knows your name and has watched over you this day. Rest in that truth for a moment before moving on.

Confession
Now, gently bring to mind anything from today that sits heavy on your heart. Maybe you said something you regret, or you felt pulled in directions that didn't reflect who you want to be. Maybe you struggled with worry, frustration, or disconnection. Jesus already knows—there's nothing here that surprises Him or puts you beyond His reach. As John writes, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). You don't need to rehearse every detail; a simple acknowledgment is enough. "Jesus, I carried anger today" or "I turned away when I should have turned toward you." Name it, and then receive the grace that's already extended to you. His forgiveness isn't earned—it's offered freely to you right now.
Thanksgiving
Shift your attention now to what your day held that was good, however ordinary it might seem. A warm meal. A conversation that made you smile. The softness of a pillow. Work completed. A person who cared. The fact that you're still here, still trying, still seeking Him. The Psalms overflow with this kind of grateful noticing: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:14, NIV). You might not feel thankful for everything that happened, and that's okay—but can you find three things, however small, to name with gratitude? Let your heart linger there. Thanksgiving has a way of settling us, of reminding us that even in hard days, grace is woven through.
My Concerns
End by bringing to Jesus what you need as this day closes and night approaches. Are you anxious about tomorrow? Tell Him. Do you need rest—real, deep rest? Ask for it. Is there something you're carrying that belongs in His hands rather than yours? Set it down here. Jesus invites us with these words: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV). Your requests matter to Him. Whether you're asking for peace, wisdom, healing, or simply the ability to sleep, bring it honestly. He listens. He cares. And He responds—not always in the way or timeline we expect, but always with love that has your good in view.
