Jesus, Help Me Through This

A midday prayer for when everything feels hard. This guide meets you where you are right now—in the middle of your day, in the middle of your struggle—and invites you to lay it all before Jesus with honesty and trust.

Midday Going through something hard
5–12 min

Right now, in the middle of your day, Jesus is listening. Come as you are—tired, frustrated, uncertain—and tell Him what's really happening.

Adoration

Begin by remembering who Jesus is, even in this moment. He is not distant from difficulty; He walked through it. He knows what it means to suffer, to feel the weight of the world press down. Take a moment to acknowledge His presence with you right now. You might pray something like: "Jesus, You are here. You are strong when I am weak. You've faced hard things too, and You didn't face them alone—and neither do I." Let that sink in. As Paul writes to the Corinthians, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NIV). In this difficult moment, that comfort is for you. Jesus is worthy of your trust precisely because He understands what hard feels like.

Confession

This is a safe place to be honest about how you're really responding to what you're facing. Are you angry? Scared? Numb? Have you doubted God's goodness or pulled away from Him? Have you lashed out at someone or buried your feelings instead of bringing them to the surface? Don't soften it. Jesus already knows, and He invites you to speak it aloud to Him anyway. You might say: "Jesus, I'm struggling with... I feel... I've been..." There's no judgment here—only the One who came to heal the broken and give rest to the weary. As John reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). Your honesty doesn't surprise Him or push Him away. It draws you closer to His healing.

Thanksgiving

Even in the middle of hard, look for small things to be grateful for—not to minimize your struggle, but to remind yourself that God's goodness hasn't disappeared. Maybe it's breath in your lungs, someone who cares about you, a moment of peace, or simply that you can bring this to Jesus right now. You might pray: "Thank You for... Thank You that even now..." Don't force it; just notice. The apostle Paul wrote from prison: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4, NIV). He wasn't denying his circumstances; he was anchoring himself to something true beneath them. What can you anchor yourself to today?

My Concerns

Now bring your need directly to Jesus. Ask Him for what you actually need right now—not what you think you should ask for. Do you need strength? Clarity? A break in the storm? Relief from fear? Wisdom about what to do next? Or just His presence to not feel so alone? You might pray: "Jesus, I need... Please help me... Would You..." Be specific. Be real. Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7, NIV). He invites your asking. He welcomes your need. And after you ask, sit with this truth: He is good, He is listening, and He is working—even if you can't see it yet from where you're standing.
