Meeting Day Grace

A morning prayer to calm your mind, invite Jesus into your meetings today, and step into them with clarity and kindness.

Morning Before a big moment
5–10 min

Good morning. Before the meetings begin, let's sit with Jesus for a few minutes and lay this day at His feet.

Adoration

Start by noticing what's true about Jesus before the day pulls at you. He is already in the room where you'll be. He sees you, and He's not stressed about what's ahead—not because the stakes aren't real, but because He holds everything. You might pray something like: Jesus, I'm grateful that You're steady. Even in a day full of voices and decisions and competing agendas, You remain anchored. As the Psalmist says, 'In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation' (Psalm 5:3, NIV). You're not distant from what I'm about to walk into—You're already there. That settles something in me. Take a moment to sit with that truth. What draws you to trust Jesus in meetings? Is it His wisdom, His calm, His care for the people in the room? Let that draw you closer to Him now.

Confession

Meetings can expose something in us—sometimes it's our need to prove ourselves, or our fear of being misunderstood, or our impatience with people who think differently. Before the day unfolds, talk honestly with Jesus about what you bring into these rooms. You might say: Jesus, I confess that I often walk into meetings already defending myself or looking out for my own interests. I get caught up in trying to impress or control outcomes. The good news is that you're not waiting for perfection—you're looking for honesty. As Paul wrote, 'Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed' (James 5:16, NIV). When you name what's true about your heart, you make space for His grace to actually change how you show up. What weight are you carrying into these meetings that you could set down at His feet right now?

Thanksgiving

Before you face the agenda, pause and thank Jesus for what's already yours. A mind that He's given you. People in the room—even difficult ones—whom He also loves and is reaching toward. The very opportunity to work and contribute. You might pray: Thank You for this day. Thank You that I don't have to earn my way into Your attention or approval, which means I can listen better to others instead of constantly protecting myself. Thank You for my colleagues and teammates, even the ones I find challenging. As it says in Philippians, 'Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!' (Philippians 4:4, NIV). Gratitude loosens the grip fear has on your morning. What's one thing—maybe small—that you're genuinely grateful for as you head into this meeting day?

My Concerns

Now ask Jesus for what you actually need. Clarity in your thinking. Kindness in your words. Wisdom to know when to speak and when to listen. Courage to stay true to what matters. You might pray: Jesus, I need Your help today. Give me a clear mind so I can think well and listen well. Help me speak only what's true and kind. Show me where I can be a person of peace in these conversations, not because I'm weak, but because I'm anchored in You. 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus' (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV). You don't have to figure out how to be wise or calm all by yourself—ask Him, and let His peace actually lead your meetings today. What's one specific prayer you want to lift up for these meetings right now?
