Midday Celebration: Giving Joy Back to Jesus
A prayer guide to pause at midday and share your joy with Jesus. Whether it's a personal win, good news, or simply the gift of another day, this guide helps you celebrate well—by turning your gladness upward and letting Jesus into your delight.
Midday
Grateful for something
5–12 min
Adoration
Start by letting your happiness spill over into praise. When we're genuinely glad, our hearts are already turned toward gratitude and wonder. Tell Jesus what you love about Him—maybe it's His faithfulness that made this good thing possible, or His generosity in blessing you at all. You might thank Him for being the kind of God who delights in your delight. As it says in Psalm 100:1–2, "Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing." Your celebration is an act of worship. Let Jesus see you happy because of Him, not just happy about what happened.
Confession
Here's the gentle truth: sometimes our joy can be a little turned in on itself. We celebrate the win without remembering the Giver. We might hold our good news close, wanting credit or wanting to prove something, rather than opening it up to share. Take a moment and ask Jesus—is there any part of your heart that's holding this celebration back from Him? Any pride creeping in? Any way you've forgotten to include Him in your happiness? He already knows, and He's not disappointed in you. He's inviting you to let that go so your joy can be even fuller. As Jesus reminds us in John 15:11, "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full."
Thanksgiving
This is the heart of your midday prayer. Slow down and name the specific things you're celebrating—out loud if you can. Thank Jesus for each one. Thank Him for orchestrating it, for the people involved, for the timing, for the way it's unfolding. Don't rush this part. Let yourself feel the gratitude. You might even thank Him for the smaller things that led to this moment—the conversations, the effort, the wait that made this celebration sweeter. The Psalmist knew this well: "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name" (Psalm 100:4, ESV). Your thanks is the doorway. Walk through it slowly.
My Concerns
Now, with your heart full and open, talk to Jesus about what comes next. Maybe you're asking Him to help you share this joy in a way that honors Him and blesses others. Maybe you're asking for wisdom about what this celebration means for your next steps. Maybe you're asking Him to keep your heart humble and grateful as you move forward. You don't have to ask for much—your supplication can be simple: "Help me carry this joy well. Help me remember You in it." As Paul writes in Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Even your celebrations belong in conversation with Jesus.
