Midday Meetings: Finding God's Presence in the In-Between
A brief prayer guide to pause during your workday, invite Jesus into the reality of back-to-back meetings, and carry His calm and wisdom into the conversations ahead—or to process what just happened in the room.
Midday

5–10 min
Adoration
Start by naming who Jesus is in the middle of a busy day. You don't need grand words—just turn your attention to Him. Maybe you notice how He stayed calm under pressure, how He listened deeply to people, how He knew when to speak and when to be still. You might pray something like: "Jesus, You are present right now. You are steady when I feel scattered." The Psalmist reminds us, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10, ESV). Even in the rush of the day, Jesus invites you into that stillness. Let yourself notice His presence—not as a break from your meetings, but as the ground beneath them. He is here, and He sees you.
Confession
Take a moment and be honest about the meetings on your mind or heart. Maybe you spoke too quickly, or didn't speak when you should have. Perhaps you felt defensive, or you worried more about how you looked than about serving others. You might have carried stress into the room, or felt impatient with someone. Jesus doesn't flinch at any of this. As it says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (ESV). Bring it to Him. Name one thing you're carrying, and let yourself be forgiven. This isn't about performing confession; it's about lightening the load you're carrying into whatever comes next.
Thanksgiving
Even in a day of meetings, there is something to be grateful for. Maybe it's the colleague who made you laugh, a decision that went well, or simply the fact that you made it this far. Perhaps it's the clarity you gained, or a person you got to listen to. You might thank Jesus for a question someone asked that made you think, or for coffee that kept you going. The apostle Paul wrote, "Rejoice always... in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:4, 6, ESV). Even small things count. Take a moment and tell Jesus what you're grateful for today—it shifts something in your chest and reminds you that this day is not just a list of tasks.
My Concerns
Now bring Jesus what you actually need. If there are meetings ahead, you might ask for clarity, for the right words, for patience, or for wisdom in a decision. If the meetings are behind you, ask Him to help you learn from them, to heal anything that stung, or to give you courage for tomorrow. You might pray for the people in those meetings—for their struggles, their needs, their hearts. Hebrews 4:16 tells us, "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (NIV). Jesus is not too busy for your asking. He welcomes it. Tell Him what you need, and trust that He hears.
