Midday Meetings: Finding Peace in the Midst
A brief prayer guide to ground you in Jesus's presence during a day full of meetings. Whether you're between back-to-back calls, sitting in a waiting room, or stepping away for five minutes, this guide helps you reconnect with calm clarity and carry Christ's peace into your next conversation.
Midday
Before a big moment
5–10 min
Adoration
Start by noticing what drew your attention to Jesus right now—in the noise of your schedule, something made space for him. That's worth honoring. You might tell Jesus what you admire about him in this moment. Perhaps it's his steadiness: *"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8, ESV)*—he doesn't rush, he doesn't lose focus, and he never runs out of patience with you. Or maybe it's his attentiveness: he sees you in this crowded day, knows your name, knows the weight you're carrying. Take a moment to speak directly to him about what you're grateful to know about his character.
Confession
Meetings can pull something out of us—maybe you've rushed through conversations without real presence, or found yourself anxious about being heard or evaluated. Perhaps you've leaned on your own competence and forgotten to invite Jesus into the room. There's no judgment here; this is what happens when we're moving fast. Simply tell Jesus where you've drifted. As John writes, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV)*. Name it gently, and notice how quickly his forgiveness reaches you.
Thanksgiving
Now pause to recognize what's already true: you're still here, still standing, still breathing. Jesus has held you through every meeting so far today. Thank him for the people in your meetings—even difficult ones—because they're part of how he's shaping you. Thank him for a mind that works, words you can speak, ears that can listen. *"Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV)*. Let gratitude settle over you like a quiet weight that steadies you.
My Concerns
Now bring Jesus into what's ahead. You might pray for clarity in your next conversation—that you'd listen well and speak truth. You might ask for courage if you're nervous, or for humility if you're tempted to dominate. Bring Jesus the people you'll meet: their stress, their expectations, their hidden struggles. *"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, ESV)*. Lay it down with him and ask him to meet you in the next room, the next call, the next conversation. You don't carry this day alone.
