Midday Meetings: Finding Peace in the Moment
A brief prayer to center yourself before, during, or after meetings. This guide helps you bring Jesus into the noise and complexity of your day, asking for clarity, wisdom, and grace in your interactions with others.
Midday

Adoration
Begin by noticing who Jesus is in the midst of your meetings. He is the One who sees you completely — not just what you present in those rooms, but your whole self. Talk to Him about His steadiness. As it's written, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8, ESV). In a day full of changing agendas and shifting conversations, He doesn't shift. You might pray something like: *Jesus, You are the one constant I can trust. You see what I'm feeling beneath the surface. I need Your presence here.*
Notice too His wisdom. He knows what needs to be said and what should remain unsaid. He understands the hearts in the room better than anyone. Let yourself rest in the truth that "the Spirit helps us in our weakness" (Romans 8:26, ESV) — your meetings do not depend on your perfect performance.

Confession
Bring the weight of the day to Jesus honestly. Maybe you spoke too quickly in a meeting and hurt someone. Maybe you stayed silent when you should have spoken. Maybe you were focused on impressing others instead of serving them, or you felt anxiety rising and let it control how you showed up. Jesus already knows — confession is simply you agreeing with Him about it, and letting Him begin to redirect you.
You might say something like: *Jesus, I confess that I've been more focused on what people think of me than on honoring You and serving them well. I spoke with frustration. I wasn't fully present.* Let those words come naturally, whatever they are. There's no judgment in His presence — only the gentle invitation to turn toward Him. As He promises, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV).

Thanksgiving
Even in a busy day, there is grace to notice. Thank Jesus for specific moments: a conversation that went better than you expected, a colleague who listened well, the fact that you made it to this moment still standing. Thank Him for breath, for clarity when you needed it, for coffee or water or a quiet corner to step into.
You might pray: *Jesus, I'm grateful You gave me the words I needed. Thank You for that person who asked a kind question. Thank You that I'm still here, still learning, still growing.* Small thanksgivings open your heart. As Paul reminds us, "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV) — even in the middle of meetings, there is reason to give thanks.

My Concerns
Now bring Jesus your needs for what's ahead — or what just happened. If there are meetings coming, ask for wisdom and calm. Ask Him to help you listen well, to speak truth gently, to remember that the people in those rooms are beloved by Him just as you are. If meetings are behind you, ask Him to help you learn from them and release anxiety about how they went.
You might say: *Jesus, give me clarity in the next conversation. Help me think before I speak. Calm my racing thoughts. Help me see the people I'm with the way You see them.* Or: *Jesus, help me let go of what I said wrong. Teach me what You want me to learn from today.* He invites you to cast your cares on Him — "casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7, ESV). Your meetings matter to Him because you matter to Him.
