Midday Pause: Prayer for Meetings
A brief prayer guide to help you step away from the rush of meetings and reconnect with Jesus in the middle of your day. Whether you're between back-to-back sessions, gathering your thoughts before an important conversation, or simply needing a moment of peace, this guide invites you to bring your actual day—the tension, the decisions, the people—into honest conversation with God.
Midday
Before a big moment
5–10 min
Adoration
Begin by noticing His presence right here, right now—not somewhere else, but with you in this actual moment. You might simply tell Jesus what draws your heart toward Him today. Maybe it's His steadiness while everything around you feels hurried. Maybe it's His wisdom when you're navigating complex conversations. The apostle Paul writes, "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4, ESV)—and that rejoicing doesn't require perfect circumstances. It's available to you right now, in the middle of meetings, in the middle of your day. Talk to Jesus about what you admire in Him, or simply sit with the reality that He sees you and is present with you.
Confession
Let your words be honest here. Maybe you've felt impatient in a meeting, or you've said something you wish you could take back. Perhaps you've been anxious about outcomes, or you've forgotten to trust that God is in control of how things unfold. You don't need to rehearse every mistake—just bring what's true. Jesus invites us, "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Your weariness, your misstep, your doubt—they're all welcome here. Tell Him what needs to be said, knowing that His grace is not exhausted by your humanity.
Thanksgiving
Even in a busy day, there are things worth naming with gratitude. Maybe someone said something kind in a meeting, or a conversation went better than you expected. Maybe you're simply grateful for coffee, or for a few moments of quiet right now. You might thank Jesus for people around the table with you, or for the clarity He's given you on a decision. The psalmist reminds us, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV). Gratitude doesn't mean ignoring what's hard—it means noticing what He's already done. What can you name right now?
My Concerns
Now bring what you need. Talk to Jesus about the meetings still ahead of you today. Ask Him for wisdom in conversations, for clarity in decisions, for patience with people, for calm in your own heart. If there's tension or confusion, name it. If you're worried about how something will land, tell Him. He invites you to "be anxious for nothing, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, ESV). He wants to know what matters to you. Ask Him to guide your words, steady your presence, and help you see others with His eyes. Ask Him for what you actually need before the day is done.
